The problem is with binNMUs. When a package is rebuilt with no source
changes, the arch:all and arch:any parts of the package get out of
sync: they have different versions. Thus you cannot have such a
strict relationship when mixing arch:all and any packages. Ensuring an
appropriately tight relationship in the arch:all case is hard and can
lead to errors. That's why Reinhard said it's not really worth it
(because the space savings are tiny).

unstable. If so, I'll apply it with a new upload to Debian

My patch was written against cmus-2.3.3 as downloaded by apt-get source
so it should work with this older version, too.

All you need to do is a Build-Depends on libroar-dev (= 0.4~beta2). I
just have noticed we do not yet have it in experimental. Will ask

Re: Comments regarding xcfa_4.0.2-1_amd64.changes

2011-01-11 Thread Alessio Treglia
Hi Mike, FTP Masters,

first of all: thanks for spending your time to review XCFA!

On Tue, Jan 11, 2011 at 1:30 AM, Mike O'Connor ftpmas...@debian.org wrote:
Does this software do anything much different than the numerous other pieces
 of
software we already have in debian which are able to rip audio CDs into other
 audio formats?

It is both different from and, at the same time, similar to other
tools already available in the archives: said that, I'm sorry but I
fail to catch the point.
Does not Debian have tens of valid altenatives for almost every
general-purpose program it provides, does it?
How many sound players do we have? How many window managers do we
provide? How many alternative text editors?

XCFA is a stable, well developed and wide-featured application which
provides a nice graphical interface to a large collection of
sound-encoding tools.
IMHO it may help us making users feel more comfortable while
converting music CDs into their favorite formats.
However, feel free to drop the package if you really think it's not
appropriate to Debian.

XCFA is a tool to extract the contens of Audio-CDs and convert musical
audio files conversion to FLAC, WAV, OGG, M4A, MPC, WavPack and many
  other formats.

What does musical audio files conversion mean?

A misspelling, the correct form would be: ...and convert musical
audio files to

what does Handling of files shared volume before a recording mean?

Another typo, it means that the application allows the user to
globally set the volume level and apply to all extracted/converted
tracks.

When you say Small cover creation for Audio-CDs.  Does small mean that you
create cover-art with few pixels?  or what does small mean here?

Small doesn't have any particular reason for being there. So,
s/Small// would be more appropriate.

I don't know if these errors stem from mis-translations, and perhaps you could
get help from someone with translation or if
 http://lists.debian.org/debian-l10n-english/ could help

XCFA's translations need much love indeed (for instance, even the
Italian localization is horrible), I'll contact upstream and our l10n
mailing lists in order to get the best.
All patches will be applied with my future uploads.

Cheers.

Wasn't the idea to give named tags? Something like libjack-dev-session

If so, we simply decide on such a name now and I'll upload fixed jackd

Wasn't the idea to give named tags? Something like libjack-dev-session

 this tag will provide it?

If so, we simply decide on such a name now and I'll upload fixed jackd
 packages to experimental tonight?

+1

libjack-dev-session sounds good to me!

This is unnecessary [1], the package doesn't provide any extension,
just modules.

Would you mind to switch the packaging to use dh_python2 instead of
pyhon-support?
