The latest version is now installed on my system and it works perfectly
apart from minor glitches when the WeatherDateTime screensaver is

When this saver is visible I sometimes have trouble getting out of

2. What format are the files in the folder ?
You can get some debug information enable d_plugins and open the debug

That's good news. Thanks for being methodical as I didn't think the

the free version of ZoneAlarm was the culprit.

Hello again,
This is hopefully the last time. I changed the socketwrapper, powered
down the complete system and booted up again.
Fantastic, it worked, which means you were right in your assumption
regarding the socketwrapper. Zonealarm put up it's usual warning as it
started to play and lo and b

Hi
Thank you for the reply, timeout adjusted, the link you provided didn't
work unfortunately. I have redone the debugging again just to see if I
can provide you with a better answer.

Hello again,
Firstly, just carrying out the debugging caused the program to hang and
then the computer stopped working altogether. The debugging has
generated page after page of figures so I have tried my best to find a
start and a finish to the figures.

Greg, I get the same thing with the password display - my password only
has 8 characters but Slimserver shows 12 "dots". Stays even if I
re-input my password.

I still think it is ZoneAlarm but we need some more info using the debug
facility to clarify what is going wrong.
To open a debug log message window and enable the appropriate message
do the following.
1. In Slimserver web interface under Server Settings/ Debugging -
check the box d_source and

I am afraid it's still "the sound of silence". I have checked
zonealarm, all relevant boxes ticked.
I have tried to "tune" various radio streams and squeezebox indicates
it is connecting, then it just fades away after a short period, no
connection is made.
The network is fine, I can access mus
That's a lot better - don't worry about the MP3/lame as the BBC stream
will be sent as Flac to the Squeezebox.
I think ZoneAlarm may be blocking one of the apps used by AlienBBC. The
sequence of applications used by alienBBC is as follows

You are correct in your assumption - Alienbbc is working like a dream.

I am assuming AlienBBC is working OK.
I don't know InguzDSP but by default AlienBBC will transcode to Flac so
the MP3 stuff may be incidental or it may be the key as I think InguzDSP
may disable MP3 on the basis there is no point to correct the audio
sound and then put it through MP3.
I think th

I don't see that there can be a problem with your installation since
some stations play ok.
The ones you aren't getting will be the more popular ones. This
suggests to me that with more pressure on the BBC servers they may take
longer to provide the stream. You might try increasing the Radio Stat

I am referring to the InguzDSp - Firefox or RealPlayer plugins have
NOTHING to do with AlienBBC.
I do not use InguzDSP so all I can give is vague generic help - it
would be best to get in contact with the inguzDSP developer. The
following thread may be useful.
