My understanding of the /dev/fd is that they are devices which are
unique to each process - that is why they are linked to /proc and
always owne by the process. As a process opens a new file descriptor
(i.e. an fd) - a coresponding /dev/fd/ will be created.

No changing the delay does not make much or any difference. The control
is not reliable even though via the web buttons it is fine. Also you
can't just keep your finger on it and the volume goes up like a normal

Ahh, all well then. Not knowing about the internals of it, I still think
you're plugins are brilliant and would certainly hope that at least some
of the functionality could be integrated in the official distribution.

I know there are Debiamn iusers who use AlienBBC without problems but I
still think /dev/fd is still the key as the error message showed up on
the standalone test of mplayer.

I'm having trouble getting Alien BBC to work with my slimserver which is
running on Debian Stable. Alien installs and I can select a stream, but
when I try to play it I there's no sound, the player is at stop and
refuses to play. mplayer seems to play a stream ok on its own.
