Interesting: exiting iPeng and then lowering volume using the button on
the side of the phone, then killing and restarting iPeng has resulted in
the in-app player defaulting to 56%. The volume-ramping issue with other
players no longer manifests itself...
:)
Ok, I'll have a look at it. Thanks for testing.

Well, you CAN try to have own icons for those plugins, too. I do it in
iPeng because the default server icons would under no circumstances look
good in an iOS 7/8/9 UI. I even have as many as 7 (sic!) different
versions of most icons (3 resolutions, two styles, plus the full-size
one).
And yes,

Squeeze Ctrl was designed to be a dark themed app and I have no
intention of changing that.

Did a quick search and read that Squeezelite should automatically
convert 24 to 16 bit if the output does not

The player the volume is increasing on (not the iPad itself), is that
synced to anything?

Re-entry after any time increases the volume. If done immediately, the
increment is 5. A longer interval can cause an increase which is a
multiple of 5. You see the volume slider move to the right shortly after
re-entry (as well as hearing the volume increase, of course).
No Bluetooth speakers,
I had a quick try setting this up by following the you tube video.

I haven't intentionally synced any of the players.
I'll check tonight whether anything has accidentally become synced. :)
