If you can set the log level that debug for all and try to change volume
them send a log, I might be able to find what's going on. It's really
strange as I've never observed that. Can you tell what's you LMS version
?

Another (better ?) alternative is to use ffmpeg aka avconv. No need for
the wrapper script either - for example the avconv line for flac would

You can't emulate a chromecast device. Chromecast devices run what is
know as a "receiver app"
I have a Raspberry Pi B+/HifiBerry Digi+, using it as a player and LMS
server, although this combination works fine, it's a little slow as a
server.
If I purchased the new Raspberry Pi 3 Model B and added the HifiBerry
Digi+, and Max2Play, would it work ok out of the box?

WaveIput plugin just takes ALSA input device - it is up to the user to
decide what that ALSA osurce is - mic ,line-in, audio monitor etc.
