Is there any possibility to make this a configuration item so that I
don't need to keep editing the code with each update? Thanks

So, if I'm setting someone up with an RPi, which version should I
download?
7.9.3
If they want to have the latest and greatest and all the thrill that
comes with it, tell them how to insall 8.0 on their own. If they can't
handle it, then they're not ready for 8.0.

I thought the problem was that we were not updating it enough?
Yep. If you're not willing to update, then don't install a development
version.

(IMHO) nicer lists. No point in searching playlists, as the API only
searches the names not contents - which is a shame.
With the Fulltext Search plugin enabled it should search tracks within
the list, too.
What I'm thinking of doing is adding the "globalsearch items" call,
stripping off

Then they would show as local results. Not sure what the problem here
is, the current search *only* shows local (or online if integrated) - so
this change would be in *addition* to the current results.

again. My LMS shows

Yup. The problem with LMS's generic search is that the returned
meta-data is pretty slim, so Material does 3 searches - artists,
The main reason that I added LMS8 as the default install, was the
majority of folks wanting all of the new Music library stuff with
Spotty. If I revert to 7.9.3, then those new features go away. Its a
no win scenario for me.
The problem I'm seeing is that many users probably aren't aware of

I guess I could use that, but it means making multiple calls. What would
be *great* is a '["globalsearch", "items", 0, 200, "search:abba",
"timeout:15", "tags:..."]' which would automatically search all
providers (artists, albums, playlists (including tracks within), tracks,
YouTube, Spotify,
Sort of replying to myself; Is it correct that "My Music" is *always*
first in the ["globalsearch", "items"] request? What I'm thinking is
(Without checking the code) I'd say yes.

I think youll find that most people these days use an RPi or a NAS for
LMS and that Windows is in the minority. Thats also down to people
tending to shut down Windows boxes but keep Linux boxes running 24/7.

Right click would display popup with Find (selected text) on
Spotify/Qobuz etc.. (probably depending what plugin is installed)
AFAIK, there is no standard API for these searches.
There's the "Global Search" available, which would then allow you to
search a term in any of the search
But, from what I understand, if you go to the PCP Download page and get
the Standard 6.1 release, this will automatically give you
LMS8 when you install LMS So, When I told this guy to download 6.1,
he had no idea he was using a development release.
So, what should he have downloaded?
Yes,
