Maybe a solution posted somewhere, however, I did not find any similar
post on that forum, sorry if this is the case.
If someone has experienced the same issue or knows where I can find the
solution, this would be very helpful.

Thanks Philippe for testing my key. You figured out that my key was "not
active".
I am still puzzled. There is no way to "activate" or "deactivate" a key
at the Google API management site, as far as I see...
I regenerated the key, and entered the new key into the plugin settings
right after.

For a long time I had the problem of LMS getting unresponsive at least
once a day, with no way to kill the service or the process, forcing me
to restart the entire computer each time. I did a lot of
troubleshooting, without finding the cause of the issue.
