No, LMS is running on another host, this a player dedicated to the two
BT speakers.
I wasn't able to run reliably all the functions I needed in a single
player: AP, DAC, two BT speakers, one USB relais to switch on the main
HIFI system: so I split
I loaded htop and tuned the BBC, the speakers have been singing for 1h
and no sign of overload... everything (exception htop) <1%...

In the same room I have another Raspi (Raspbian Buster), connected to my
main stereo system with a Hifi Berry DAC, connected with eth0, works
also as bridged AP.
I have just fixed a problem where the DAC would kill the wifi, moving
the channel from 1 to 3.

well, I don't know how it happened, but the file
/etc/systemd/system/squeezelite.service had a reference to the
squeezelite-armv6hf version.
After changing that to "squeezelite", it worked.

downloaded the Intel-64bit.
I even did apt-get purge and apt-get install --reinstall, but it's the

Just in case it could help us with this issue, I was able to install
ffmpeg following advice # 1415 of this page:

sudo service squeezelite start|stop|status does not work.
SL will start issuing squeezelite at the command prompt (without
sudo), however, the terminal will hang open.
I removed my edit in /etc/init.d/squeezelite and inserted default server
and audio card

I do not understand why we need to update the player so frequently, and
why it does not work most of the times...

Sometime you have to insist and retry.
There are days when it does not work, and others where it will play
forever without dropping a note.
The URL is correct, but did you install AlienBBC?
Without that, I think you cannot listen to RAI channels, as far as I
know.

ok, I went for a complete reinstall, and now with Edgy I got Mplayer
pre8, and BBC is streaming more than a mere 4'15...
Luckily I had set the OS on its own partition, so all music and photos
remain unaffected from this upgrade.

Still shows pre7 and BBC hangs at 4'15.
Tried removing -bandwith 10, but no success.
I would prefer to manage updates through Ubuntu Synaptic manager,
rather than mess the system myself...

I upgraded from 6.5.0, my playlist have entries with RTSP URL, yes I do
have an AlienBBC menu and RTSP entries in filetype settings...
What's for sure is that they worked, a few weeks ago..

-deleted Alien folder and .conf files,
-reinstalled Alien plugin

-now RTSP file types are listed and radio stream playlisted
possible cause:
maybe I had installed Alien plugin 1.05 for SS 6.3 instead of 6.5
