I had a problem with this but found that it was down to Spotify having two levels of artist status. Some are just in the list others are in the list and also "followed". Only the latter will show up in your artist list in the LMS app. If I add an artist to LMS it appears on both. Not How would you add an artist if not following him? Hmm, I must have missed player auto discovery when I did this, going back a while now. Is that possible via slave/lite? Once you have the server you can ask it for a list of players (serverstatus). I've disabled triodes Spotify app and enabled the official app with the protocol helper plugin. It works great on iPeng 9 but isn't accessable on the original iPeng. Original iPeng still see's it with the old orange "Spotify core" icon and returns "empty" when you try to select it. Hmm... Hmm, I must have missed player auto discovery when I did this, going back a while now. Is that possible via slave/lite? Currently it's just a quick hack to detect the server via one of the players IIRC. But yep, for now you just put in the actual mac address, sorry. After that you should be good to go in controller mode, although I haven't tried controller mode myself in a while Artwork works for me, though. If I run the official Spotify plugin with Triodes plugin running under "Radio's" it works on both versions of ipeng and the automation system... although ipeng 9 had 2 spotifys under "my apps", one with the new menu and one with triodes... Tonight I am using iPeng quite a bit on my iPad in Split Screen mode. I think I found a bug with the displaying of the artist and track title text box. When I click on the album cover art on the top left in the main view, I get the small player controls on top, the larger cover art in the middle and the artist and track title on the bottom. If I then dismiss iPeng and bring it back (again in Split Screen) the artist and title text box at the bottom fades out. After that it is gone until I select the back < icon on top left to return to the main screen. I hope that makes sense. Try it and hopefully you will see what I mean. A while back I had also suggested a fixed install mode for Ipeng playback that could be used to turn a retired ipad or iphone into a squeezebox complete with clock and screensavers. There is a newish API in LMS 7.9 that required changes to these plugins.
I understand from earlier posts that Erland is working on this. If you
don't need the 'full text search' plugin I suggest you try disabling it.
This may alleviate the problem for now.

As a relative newbie with Spotify (but not with Squeezebox) I finally found this thread in my search to get get some reasonably Spotify functionality on my SB, and It DID solve the problem. For the first time ever I can run Spotify searches from my SB Duet controller and the SB app on my iPhone. Also, those controllers now actually show the same display of Spotify albums as the SB server screen on my mac and the actual home screen from my Spotify account. There's one key step that I didn't find in this thread above (or wasn't strongly emphasized) probably because it's so elementary: After I had the triode app disabled and the protocol handler activated, my controllers were still showing the old (orange) triode app icon and NOT the Green Spotify app icon in the "My Apps" listing, even though the green app was displayed on my server screen and was working on my mac to select and play Spotify tracks. YOU MUST RE-BOOT YOUR SQUEEZEBOX CONTROLLER (and your iPhone, if you're using the SB app there) before the changes you've made on the server will show up. That means going all the way back to "restore factory settings" on the controller and completely powering-down the phone. This used to be so standard in keeping any computer running that you didn't have to mention it, but modern apps and OSs have become so robust we tend to forget. When in doubt, re-boot everything. How the Spotify is supposed to show in LMS web page? I cleared now all the settings and cache and installed the SPH 1.0.1 and Official Spotify plugin. I should note that the behavior has slightly changed over the last day or 2. Artists used to present a partial list. It now says "" Add albums to your music, or follow an artist or playlist to populate your music library." Yes, I changed that. Previously it would return an empty list, throwing errors on the server side. I decided to add some hint about what is supposed to be in that menu instead, as I was under the impression that some users expect this to be the full list of artists or whatever available on Spotify. Which would be a huge list no one would want to get, of course. Tracks is now missing completely. Yes, I removed it. EDIT: to add, if I disable the new protocol handler plugin, restart LMS, enable Triode's plugin, restart LMS, spotify works fine (using the orange Spotify icon in LMS). Search doesn't work of course, but music plays. But I can't get music to play with Triode's disabled and the protocol handler plugin enabled. Sorry Michael, I'm conscious that there's a few people here asking for help, and you are being very geenrous with your time. For me, the Spotify app appears in my Slim browser Apps list, and I can browser albums and tracks within the same app. I have enabled the new protocol hander plug (1.0.1). As soon as I try to play a track I get "connecting..." then silence. All my players and server are in 192.168.1.x and i have no firewall on the Ubuntu box where the latest nightly 7.9 LMS is running. I see the helper uses port 9005, do I need to port-forward that from my router? No (assuming both your server as well as player are in the same network). It is mysb's screen. Everything goes through with mysb and Spotify but still nothing appears in mysb's Player Settings tab nor in the LMS's web page. I noticed that in the mysb.com where Spotify app configuration asks Spotify credentials the username field turns red right after when I enter my Spotify username and move the cursor to the password field. Could that indicate some sort of an problem with something?! That's most likely your browser's spell check failing on your username. As long as it accepts your password you should be fine. Is this the mysb.com screen or Spotify's? I then add Michael's repository You shouldn't need to add my repository. They show up in the main list. But that's irrelevant to your real problem :-). 1.0.1 shows up for Spotify Protocol Handler. Tick to update. Restart Next time you try this, please give it a few minutes before you restart. The plugin package is pretty hefty (10MB+). Depending on your connection this can take a while. This topic has come up recently. The Reboot message would be shown before the plugin actually has been downloaded. But I haven't found a solution for this yet. Hi Specifically for Michael, but others may be able to jump in. I'm now using Spotify and I'm interested in Michael's Protocol handler. However it seems to screw up the Plugins section of my squeezebox. Here's how. I have removed (dpkg -i) logitechmedia server and deleted /var/lib/squeezeboxserver. I've then reinstalled (dpkg -i) from the latest nightly. i then launch Firefox, enter my preferences etc, scan the library. I then add Michael's repository, and choose the new Spotify Protocol Handler. I do NOT tick the box to autoupdate plugins. It shows up okay. i then tick the box to update plugins, and it then goes into a spin. 1.0.1 shows up for Spotify Protocol Handler. Tick to update. Restart LMS. reloadpage. 1.0.1 shows a an update and "please restart to update. Rinse and repeat. I can then NEVER get a successful display of the Plugins page, I am always asked to restart LMS. Deleting server.prefs and cache.db doesn't help. I am only getting this problem with the new Spotify Protocol Handler. Any ideas? Ubuntu x64. So I can't test it, since the plugin is never displaying on the list now. Most likely this restart issue is due to some failed plugin update. So you've configured it on mysqueezebox.com and it works from there, so it should just appear under My Apps, if your mysqueezebox login is correct in LMS. I didn't do anything else to make it appear as far as I can remember. Would be glad to test, I'm on synology, where can I get the package and how can I install? Since now I always used the WebUI to install stuff. How did you install on the Synology? Are you using Synology's own package? There's a "LMS Repack" or similar for Synology which would update more often. Please check the forum.
