Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)

2018-08-07 Thread ShutterShock

Philippe,

A few months ago I tested squeeze2upnp on my new DLNA capable 'Hegel
H190' (https://www.hegel.com/products/integrated/h190) integrated
amp/dac/streamer.

It worked quite well. I loved the idea of a headless Squeezebox and I
could have sworn it sounded better than my Squeezebox Touch connected
via S/PDIF to the H190's internal DAC.

The problem was, at the time I couldn't get the plugin to pass any of my
hi res FLAC files. Just silence. If I recall, and I could be wrong, I
think you said that the plugin will have difficulty with higher bit
rates. That became a show stopper so I didn't pursue squeeze2upnp.

What I have discovered since this is the H190's DAC has an upper limit
of 96/24. In testing the plugin before, I doubt I ever \explicitly set
that bit rate/bit depth.

Based on your knowledge and experience, should your plugin support
connectivity to a 96 Kbps/24 bit DAC? It is correct that LMS (via your
plugin) does the down-sampling if I play a file of, say, 192/24?

Thanks.

Thank you for your input. Everything is working and sounding great with
setting the upper bit rate to 96,000.

Phillipe and support people, thank you *very* much for this plug-in. I'm
going to advise Hegel about how well this works.

Pillipe

Before I go any further and end up wasting your time, I just need to
understand... Is changing from "24bits PCM" options to "16 bits always"
part of the diagnostic process, or would this be my permanent
configuration with the plug-in?

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)

2018-03-05 Thread ShutterShock

I just purchased the Hegel H190 and was thrilled to learn about
UPnP/DLNA bridge.

I managed to get it to work but unfortunately, the relationship between
the Hegel renderer and LMS frequently disappears. This can happen when
I'm playing music or when the system is idle. Also, it -seems- to be
aggravated by me scrubbing forward or backwards through a track while
playing. Under all these conditions, the renderer also disappears from
the Players list on LMS. When the amplifier is powered off, it will
eventually reappear in the LMS Player list.

Can you point me to a troubleshooting guide for issues of this nature? I
should tell you, I'm not a coder and don't know Linux but I'm very eager
to get this working.

*Media Renderer:* 'Hegel H190'

I couldn't reproduce the issues using the default settings and mp3
files. It wasn't until the end when I added some hi-res FLAC files.
Everything worked fine - even with the FLAC files until the Dvorak file.
Then all the symptoms appeared including the renderer disappearing from
the Player list in LMS.

There was another issue before things crashed... In my playlist, when
one track ended, the system wouldn't advance to the next track. Also,
the time line of previous song (that had just finished) was jumping
around to some extent (viewed on LMS web client) and there was no audio
playback.

Log file attached.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)

2019-02-17 Thread ShutterShock

I've come to love this plugin. I have occasional issues with loss of
UPnP/DLNA session, but that's not what I'm hoping to explore right now.
Ever since I bought my Hegel H190 and Totem Sky speakers, the high end
seems rolled off. Some days seem more so than others, but the general
sense is one of subdued high frequencies. I'm grasping at straws here
but could a setting in UPnP/DLNA bridge have anything to do with this?

- Logitech Media Server Version: 7.7.6 - 1452060463
- Bridge Version: 1.8.2

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)

2019-05-16 Thread ShutterShock

I was hoping to get your opinion...

>From the start of using the UPnPBridge, the UPnP session between LMS and
the renderer in my Hegel H190 drops sporadically and frequently. Power
cycling the Hegel seems to be the only remedy. I can easily reproduce
session drops by track scrubbing (forward and backward), making rapid
track changes etc.

I'm running LMS 7.7.6 on a Synology DS-218+. My emerging theory is the
NAS could be sacrificing session stability in favour of of other tasks.
For example, "housekeeping" tasks on the NAS maybe taking CPU cycles
away from LMS (along with UPnPBridge) to the point where UPnP session
management is compromised.

Do you think that dedicating a Windows computer strictly to LMS, would
reduce or eliminate these session drops?

FYI: As a work-around I've been using Synology's Audio Station/Media
Server combo. It very rarely drops sessions but has some other nasty
behaviour. It also lacks the elegance of the iPeng/LMS experience.

I've been looking at Roon and Audirvana as potential replacements for
LMS but neither appeal to me for various reasons. Being a long time
user, I'm very devoted to LMS.

Thank you.

ones?
