making new API key. Am running Logitech Media Server Version: 8.2.0 -

reinstalled fresh lms some time ago.

Ronnie- thanks very much for your help. It seems as thought the power
supply was the major issue. I was using a 5v 0.75A supply which is
plainly not adequate. Now I have a 5v 2a supply in, it seems to have
solved the problem. That said I am not 100% sure I'm not gettign the odd
low level pop, but this might be my imagination (or just the odd chair
creaking/lectern knocking in the recording.
I apologise for sending you on a wild goose chase.

not use the usb dac setting in Audioplayer, check the power supply and

Thanks so much. I tried a fresh install and still got problems . In fact
now the max2p was power cycling too. and not connecting at all. ]I'm
beginning to wonder (actually at prompt from Archimago) whether it might
be the power which is the problem. Is your DX3pro powered by the pi or
independently?
Did you set up "usb audio" in the Raspberry pi settings tab (under the
menu seletion for hats or other cards) and if so at what point? At what
point in the process did you connect the dac. ARe you using the UI to
apply squeezelite settings.
Last time i tried. I selected USB audio, which seems to casue it to
crash. Then on reboot the dac power cycled. world of pain.
I will try to follow your precise steps.

Hi Ronnie- thanks for the assistance. I can't get at the pi right now
but will have a look later. I thought it was a fresh install from
website dwnload without updating... Interesting that m2p had pops but no
power cycling problem on the dac as with pcp.

Thanks- I hads no joy with max2play.
I treid PCP instead.
It seems to work with
hw:CARD=D10,DEV=0
ALSA setting 120:4::1 (automatically gernated- I only changed the 80 to
120, not sure what the 1 is)

Popping seems to have gone.
Am very impressed with PCP but daunted by all the options. -is there a
wiki?

Can you help with a couple of queries.
Dac seemed to click on and off on cycle while I was trying to set up.
Seems to have stopped doing that except when sample rate changes. Is
there some way of dealing with that?
Also can I set squeezelite to use the dac's own vc rather than
LMS/squeezelite. is that -o HW:0 -V Digital ?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] problem with popping sounds in squeezelite

2020-06-30 Thread adamdea

I'm having trouble with squeezelite on a pi2 running max2play (server is
on another pi). I have a topping d10 dac attached and am getting
annoying low level popping sounds which are obtrusive on tracks with
quiet background (solo piano and choral for example). I do not get this
problem attaching the topping to a windows laptop runnning squeezelite-x
so assume the problem lies with the squeezelite settings.

sorry for the dumb quesion but what it the correct output device?

Great- do you think that could be used by max2play for its squeezelite

Sorry if I am being obtuse, but is it worth asking @bpa if there is a
work around to getting play WMA working on a pi? I too use max2play on a
pi as server and am very interested. As an alternative is there some
other way of transcoding using c3PO? I take it that ffmpeg won't work
with the "file types" tab in Settings.

It's interesting that it works under pure raspbian jessie but apparently
not under expecting's max2play flavour. I'm wondering whether the latter

Hi expecting.. I'm also trying to use with max2play. Are you using an
original pi B. I'm confused by the first message saying arm7 and the
second (uname -a) showing arm6
also when you updated the OS did you use a fresh max2play install with

Is the gist of your previous post Michael that I need to be running a

I agree with this although i use Ipeng rather than controller.
I do hop that we can wrk out a soluition. I suppose that if the worst
cmes to the worst I may be able to use the spotify iphone ap and airplay
to play to my squeezeboxen but I think it would be a shame not to have
it spotify integrated with the local files (and t have to use two
different apps).

If some were to get spotify connect working with LMS, would that still
require the use of the spotify controller app. If so, I cant see that
it's much different from using airplay.

I guess I culd always migrate to deezer or Tidal, but since I have a
family spotify account this might cause ructions

I wonder whether Sonos have worked out a way of getting the spotify app
to work after libspotify goes? I suspect not since they recently
incorporated spotify connect.

This is excellent Michael. Works fine on my QNAP nas via chrome browser

This has made the plugin so much more useful for me. Thanks very much

I didn't mean to pester. I just wondered whether I had misunderstood how
it works. Yes I meant the additional contributors (conductors,
composers, bands as well as artists). I appreciate that you have many
demands on your time. If you could find time for this it would make me
very happy. I'm sure there must be other people who would find it useful
too -particularly those with large classical libraries. Incidentally I
have heard lots of people saying that roon was supposed to be so much
better than anything else, but I can't see (on brief acquaintance) what
it does that LMS can't.

Hi Michael
Sorry if I have misunderstood, but is there any way chance of
implementing some more direct link to artist information-either
appearing as an option when you click on the artist or by way of menue
choice under "artist information" for the track or album

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Music & Artist Information plugin

2016-06-09 Thread adamdea

OK here is my problem.
If I click on
"Schumann: Frauenliebe und -leben; Brahms: 8 Songs Op. 57 (2008)" it
lists as artists Johannes Brahms, Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, Julius Drake
[if I click on artist infromation. biography I get Lorraine Hunt
Lieberson
If I click on Julius Drake I get a list of albums. If I click on any of
those albuns I get a list of artists for example if I click on Britten:
Canticles I get a list of artists. If I click on artisit information I
get a biography of Benjamin Btritten. The only way I seem to get to
artist information for Julius Drake is if I find him somewhare under
related artists then if I click on him there I get the biography etc for
him. If I click on a particular artist, would it be possible to get that
artist's info as an option along with the various artists. Would I be
right in thinking that only the album artist ever comes up for artist
information?
I am using a pretty recent LMS 7.9 running on a QNAP NAS.

I don;t think I get that menu. Sorry if I am doing something wrong. So
I click for information on a track I get two artists listed. I click
artist information. I do not get a choice of artist, just Biography etc.
I do have "only download pictures for main artist"
ticked- is that the problem?

Michael is there any way of getting composers, conductors and other
artists to return the information in the plugin rather than just having
one artist. I find it's a bit random on my classical albums (about 90%
of what I have) as to what might pop up in the bios.

I haven't been following all things pi that closely, but I was under
the impression that the wolfson card was quite popular at the beginning
and then got eclipsed by hifi berry and iqaudio efforts. It does do an
awful lot of things though. Nothing else has headphone, line out and
s/pdif out, let alone a/d, Mics (and even speaker outs.)
Shame the kernel seems to be a weak spot.
I'm wondering whether it can work with the touch screen.

squeezelite under debian on a cubox-i and I found mounting the music
folder on my Qnap a nightmare. Cant remember how I managed it in the end
other than that it involved lots of googling, tears, cfs. My linux
knowledge is minimal. Funnily enough this worked fine when I tried
squeeze on arch. Unfortunately SoA kept breaking lms for me so I gave up
on it.

Was about to try out max2play on a pi2 and was hoping that mounting the
music file would be made easy.

I just made these changes (I think). Just to confirm - is it correct

identify the program which is playing. Does the BBC not put out any

Hi Pippin
I wonder if you can help. I'm using ipeng 8 on an iPhone 6 controlling
LMS 7.9 on a qnap NAS (Intel). I love the app but have noticed that the
search button seems to be dead. I can scroll through albums, composers,
conductors etc. but when I press search the button does nothing. It's
been like this for a while. I think it was doing it on my old iPhone 4
for a while, but I just assumed the hardware couldn't cope.
Is it just me, or have others experienced this.?

Michael
I have been trying out running LMS on a cubox-i4pro (arm7) device using
Triode's squeeze on arch distro (if that;s the right word for it)
When I tried to install the Music and Artist info plugin I got this
error message.
Can't locate HTML/TreeBuilder.pm in @INC

Triode suggested that I install perl html-tree
which worked fine for me. The plugin works great -thanks again.

Could you help though with Triode's query here though
http://www.solid-run.com/community/topic1458-90.
ie would that module be part of the required LMS perl modules, or
would you expect it to be installed separately. I not 100% sure what
that means. I assume that he may mean that you might be expecting it to
be part of the usual mainstream linux distros.

Anyway, apologies for cross posting and feel free to ignore if Triode
has asked you separately

It's not doing the import from scratch. But there's no easy way to
figure out whether a picture has changed or was new, other than going
through the whole list. After all the scanner doesn't know whether you
only added an album, or whether you edited all artist images. It first
has to find out. And that's not easily done with the artist pictures, as

it's not in the core of the database.

is there any way that it could be set as an option ie not to check for
updated pictures on update track scan? Then the user could decide

It can take up to 24h until your LMS picks up updates. It's live in

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2012-06-13 Thread adamdea

AS a matter of interest is there any way of incorporating within iPeng a
way of browsing accompanying texts. For example when downloading music
the provider often includes a PDF of the booklet accompanying the CD
with articles and sometimes lyrics. One of the things I find frustrating
is the need to keep the cd box in order to read this material. I suspect
this could all be incorporated in metadata. Hyperion do so for lyrics
and (to a limited extent other text) but AFAIK no one else does. I was
not so bothered when using ipeng on an iphone but now i use an Ipad it
seems frustrating that I can't simply flick within Ipeng to the pdf in
the same folder as the music

Is there any way you could include this feature (assuming i have not
stupidly missed it)?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Suggested plugin PDF viewer

2012-06-13 Thread adamdea

Is there any way of incorporating within LMS (and ideally ipeng) a way
of browsing accompanying texts. For example when downloading music the
provider often includes a PDF of the booklet accompanying the CD with
articles and sometimes lyrics. One of the things I find frustrating is
the need to keep the cd box in order to read this material. I find the
absence of booklet info to be the last remaining obstacle to dispensing
with physical media for my music library- and it would not be a problem
for a mac and dac solution- so it would be great if my SBT could read
PDF files on the same folder as the music.

I suspect this could in theory all be incorporated in metadata but
generally it isn't . Hyperion do so for lyrics and (to a limited extent
other text) but AFAIK no one else does. The lyrics plugin us useful for
pop music but it doesnt seem to have the Data for any of my opera tracks
.

I was not so bothered when using ipeng on an iphone but now i use an

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugin Suggestion: Vinyl Emulator

2011-05-23 Thread adamdea

I understand that outside the Squeezebox environment it has been
demonstrated that by DSP a digital file can be made to sound like
vinyl. As I understand it this was done by .VST file which can't be
directly used by SBS.
Lots of people still like the sound of records more than cds or digital
files so I suspect it would be quite popular. From my lofty vantage
point of ignorance I would have thought it would be fairly easy to
implement for someone clever, and it may be that it's largely a matter
of transcoding something which has been done before.
This point has cropped up a number of times on the audiophile forum,
but I suspect it would be of much wider interest.

Adding vinyl artifacts to a digital file would be the opposite to this,

Of course, I can't really classify myself as an audiophile so I might
 be missing something obvious.

Err this is a slightly contentious point. Or has been frequently
asserted that digital plus appropriate distortion= analogue. Although
analogue fans dont think this is what they like,
it is ( the argument goes). Many ardent analogue fans including the
high priest Michael fremer admit that cdrs of vinyl capture most of the
vinyl magic. If you are interested I suggest having a look at
hydrogenaudio.
Anyway this was not intended to rehearse the arguments about that but
simply to say that I believe there would be some interest.

For linux users who have experienced problems due to GLIBC version
requirements (mainly intel NAS users?), could you try the attached
spotifyd in place of the one installed with 0.2beta6. (Please install
the plugin and then replace the spotifyd file with the one in the zip
file attached to this post). Would also be interested in other linux
users testing it to check compatibily with all machines.

I am sure this is a really dumb question, but how do I
find the spotifyd file and replace?

If it's possible it would be great if Triode could provide a spotifyd
binary that's compatible with servers running on NAS-boxes like the
Qnap. I know that a lot people are running their SqueezeServers on such
devices for low power consumption and general ease of use.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: FindArt plugin beta

2010-06-07 Thread adamdea

I had the same problem, but it went away when I looked in the setting
for the plugin and went and obtained an amazon web access key (sorry
can't remember what it's called but look in the Find art settings).
Without the key amazon won't allow the program access.
