It seems as thought the power supply was the major issue. I was using a 5v 0.75A supply which is plainly not adequate. Now I have a 5v 2a supply in, it seems to have solved the problem. In fact now the max2p was power cycling too. and not connecting at all. ]I'm beginning to wonder (actually at prompt from Archimago) whether it might be the power which is the problem. Is your DX3pro powered by the pi or independently? Did you set up "usb audio" in the Raspberry pi settings tab (under the menu seletion for hats or other cards) and if so at what point? At what point in the process did you connect the dac. ARe you using the UI to apply squeezelite settings. Last time i tried. I selected USB audio, which seems to casue it to crash. [SlimDevices: Plugins] problem with popping sounds in squeezelite
I'm having trouble with squeezelite on a pi2 running max2play (server is on another pi). I have a topping d10 dac attached and am getting annoying low level popping sounds which are obtrusive on tracks with quiet background (solo piano and choral for example). I do not get this problem attaching the topping to a windows laptop runnning squeezelite-x so assume the problem lies with the squeezelite settings. sorry for the dumb quesion but what it the correct output device? If some were to get spotify connect working with LMS, would that still require the use of the spotify controller app. If so, I cant see that it's much different from using airplay. I guess I culd always migrate to deezer or Tidal, but since I have a family spotify account this might cause ructions I wonder whether Sonos have worked out a way of getting the spotify app to work after libspotify goes? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Music & Artist Information plugin
OK here is my problem. If I click on "Schumann: Frauenliebe und -leben; Brahms: 8 Songs Op. 57 (2008)" it lists as artists Johannes Brahms, Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, Julius Drake [if I click on artist infromation. biography I get Lorraine Hunt Lieberson If I click on Julius Drake I get a list of albums. If I click on any of those albuns I get a list of artists for example if I click on Britten: Canticles I get a list of artists. If I click on artisit information I get a biography of Benjamin Btritten. The only way I seem to get to artist information for Julius Drake is if I find him somewhare under related artists then if I click on him there I get the biography etc for him. If I click on a particular artist, would it be possible to get that artist's info as an option along with the various artists. Would I be right in thinking that only the album artist ever comes up for artist information? AS a matter of interest is there any way of incorporating within iPeng a way of browsing accompanying texts. For example when downloading music the provider often includes a PDF of the booklet accompanying the CD with articles and sometimes lyrics. One of the things I find frustrating is the need to keep the cd box in order to read this material. I suspect this could all be incorporated in metadata. Hyperion do so for lyrics and (to a limited extent other text) but AFAIK no one else does. I was not so bothered when using ipeng on an iphone but now i use an Ipad it seems frustrating that I can't simply flick within Ipeng to the pdf in the same folder as the music Is there any way you could include this feature (assuming i have not stupidly missed it)? adamdea's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37603 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Perhaps it has been suggested before- I am sure I am not the only person who finds the non availability of booklets and lyrics to be the final barrier to completely replacing the physical media with squeezebox. I know about the lyrics plugin which works ok with popular music but I can't remember it ever working with a track in an opera cd. adamdea's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37603 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] Suggested plugin PDF viewer
Is there any way of incorporating within LMS (and ideally ipeng) a way of browsing accompanying texts. For example when downloading music the provider often includes a PDF of the booklet accompanying the CD with articles and sometimes lyrics. One of the things I find frustrating is the need to keep the cd box in order to read this material. I find the absence of booklet info to be the last remaining obstacle to dispensing with physical media for my music library- and it would not be a problem for a mac and dac solution- so it would be great if my SBT could read PDF files on the same folder as the music. I suspect this could in theory all be incorporated in metadata but generally it isn't . Hyperion do so for lyrics and (to a limited extent other text) but AFAIK no one else does. The lyrics plugin us useful for pop music but it doesnt seem to have the Data for any of my opera tracks . I was not so bothered when using ipeng on an iphone but now i use an Ipad it seems frustrating that I can't simply flick within Ipeng to the pdf in the same folder as the music. I am sure I am not the only person who would find this useful. adamdea's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37603 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95494 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugin Suggestion: Vinyl Emulator
Interesting point about the general dsp plugin. I suspect that most things could be made as an inguz drc file. I have a feeling that there is an open reel emulator somewhere. Do you think it may be possible to take an existing product and transcode (if that's the right word) for SBS? -- adamdea adamdea's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37603 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87881 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugin Suggestion: Vinyl Emulator
I don't doubt that there are many other interesting apps which could be written. It just occurred to me that since many people like the sound of analogue, and I have no doubt it is technically feasible to produce some sort of analogue/vinyl filter, it might be interesting to see if someone would do it. -- adamdea adamdea's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37603 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87881 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugin Suggestion: Vinyl Emulator
I understand that outside the Squeezebox environment it has been demonstrated that by DSP a digital file can be made to sound like vinyl. As I understand it this was done by .VST file which can't be directly used by SBS. Lots of people still like the sound of records more than cds or digital files so I suspect it would be quite popular. From my lofty vantage point of ignorance I would have thought it would be fairly easy to implement for someone clever, and it may be that it's largely a matter of transcoding something which has been done before. This point has cropped up a number of times on the audiophile forum, but I suspect it would be of much wider interest. -- adamdea adamdea's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37603 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87881 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Nominations for Recommended 3rd Party Plugins
Whoops I realised I have started this as a new thread when maybe I should have just posted here. Apologies if this is against the rules. Anyway my suggestion was a plugin to make files sound like they are being played on vinyl by addition of appropriate distortion and noise. -- adamdea adamdea's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37603 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=56928 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

erland;632858 Wrote: Isn't the reason people are interested in vinyl that they think it contains more audio information due to the analogue characteristics ? Adding vinyl artifacts to a digital file would be the opposite to this, it would remove audio information and make it sound worse than the digital original. Of course, I can't really classify myself as an audiophile so I might be missing something obvious. Err this is a slightly contentious point. Or has been frequently asserted that digital plus appropriate distortion= analogue. Although analogue fans dont think this is what they like, it is ( the argument goes). Many ardent analogue fans including the high priest Michael fremer admit that cdrs of vinyl capture most of the vinyl magic. If you are interested I suggest having a look at hydrogenaudio. Anyway this was not intended to rehearse the arguments about that but simply to say that I believe there would be some interest. -- adamdea adamdea's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37603 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87881 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I've had some issues with the helper app crashing a few times during testing but haven't been able to se a pattern why. Could be a combination of things like my Spotify premium account expiring (renewed it yesterday) and me testing with a lot of restarts. Anyway it's up and running now now showing any problems. I'll keep testing the plugin the next couple of days but hopefully it should be functioning. Also glad to see SqueezeCommander working with the plugin on my Android Phone. That was a nice surprise. :) Really great work Triode! /Martin My equipment: QNAP TS-239 Pro. SqueezeBox Touch. Interesting- I have the same hardware as you, but couldn't get it to work before. Hopefully it should work now with the later version of the beta (8?). Did you get any usable output from it there? Did the helper app terminate before or after you had a chance to actually try playing a stream or something from your SqueezeBox? /Martin I was trying to run it just using the Squeezebox server settings web interface. Perhaps that was my mistake. It ran for a bit but fell over when i tried to use spotify. How do I run in a terminal session?
