Sometimes when playing a locally stored album there is no album review displayed. This is most often due to All Music not having a review to display or a mis-match in my local artist name or album title (amending my locally stored meta data to match usually sorts it out). However I have one stubborn example where I can't seem to retrieve the All Music review. The Album is Olé Coltrane by John Coltrane. My local meta data has the artist as John Coltrane and the album title as Olé Coltrane (with the accented é), the same as All Music, but the online review isn't retrieved. I initially thought it was the accented é, as I just had a non-accented character in my local title, but that didn't sort it. Are there any other data fields that need matching, or is it the é that is causing the problem? Craig, A long while ago you kindly made an enhancement to material skin whereby, if additional files (text, pictures, html etc) are present within a music\artist\album directory, the option to access these files becomes available within the material interface. For example, from the android skin, now playing screen, long press artist artwork, a menu with (...) Show track info appears, select this. If additional files are present, the next menu will display "text files from music folder", selecting this (in my case) presents the option Additional Information.html (a file I've created, located in the album directory in a sub directory called Additional Resources). My question is, using the custom scripting, is it possible to move the option to reach the Additional Info.html file up to the top menu after long pressing the album artwork from the now playing screen? I seem to recall that this isn't as simple as I hope, due to you having to due some under the bonnet checking to see if the file is present? I notice that the bliss mixer seems to handle multiple genre tags (for example I have some songs tagged as Folk/Country or Soul/Blues etc) and bliss seems to be able to fit these tracks into either a blues or soul mix which is neat. I don't think MIP could ever do that and would only ever read one tag. I've been listening all afternoon and I like the balance of the mix that bliss generates. Thanks for your work on this Craig, for me, I think this is the way forward. I noticed that there was a file present on my MC called vcruntime140_clr0400.dll, so I made a copy of it and renamed it to vcruntime140.dll and that worked. So in the end, my win32 directory contained vcruntime140_clr0400.dll (original) and vcruntime140.dll (same as vcruntime140_clr0400.dll but renamed). Sounds interesting, I currently run LMS on a Win10 server but am considering migrating to a PCP solution for the server. Would I be able to upload the Bliss DB to the PCP server and run the plugin/DTSM mixer on that platform? [SlimDevices: Plugins] PCP and Music IP Mix Options
I've always run LMS on a headless Win10 server, mainly due to me being familiar with Windows and also the server runs some other Win based apps that I use. However, I am becoming less and less convinced that this is the best platform, constant Win10 updates, bloated OS, inability of my current HW to support Win11, high power consumption, slow speed of response, large OS overkill for what I need etc Having recently built my first PCP based server for friend on a Rpi 4 I've got to say I was very impressed with this as a solution. Huge thanks to the PCP team for implementing this and the very useful online tutorials. I had it all up and running in a day as a complete PCP/Rpi novice. I like the compact size, the low power footprint, and it's lightning quick cw my Win10 server. So, I'm thinking of migrating my Win10 server over to PCP/Rpi. My question is this, all my music (approx 10k FLAC tracks) is tagged with Music IP and I run Music IP headless on my Win10 system for Music IP mixes. What are my options for this on PCP, can I run the Music IP headless engine on this platform, or are there more appropriate alternatives for similarity mixes. There are a number of threads in this forum about this subject so I think the answer is that it's possible, but I just wanted a steer from others who have been down this road, to see what you guys use/recommend? My main requirement is that it works (of course!) but also that it's relatively easy to set-up/maintain (ie. I don't need to be a computer scientist to make it work and keep it running). Paul, Firstly, thanks for your ongoing development of this plugin, very useful. Is it possible to add a global tick box in the settings that just displays the highest quality radio feeds? I know you can filter with a text string (eg. flac, flc, aac, aac-high etc), but there is a big range of possibilities and no consistency across the providers (as obviously they are coming from many diverse sources and present in various formats). I just wondered if you could "automate" the filtering within in the plugin? The reason I ask is that I had set it up using the text string filter option but a recent server crash necessitated a server rebuild and I hadn't noted down this setting, and now I can't remember what I had set! Not critical, just a thought. A great plugin Stuart, very useful as a now playing guide - all ready getting very comfortable using as a "whats on now" lookup. It's like having your own personalised Radio guide. One comment, some of the feeds (UK Radio Player) are low bitrate, beyond your control I know, but there are higher bit-rate feeds available for some stations (eg. Classic FM, Jazz FM as I have these in my favourites). To clarify how this works when using the BBC Sounds Plugin, in the plugin settings page, set line 1 metadata to blank (this allows the station name to be presented), set the line 2 metadata to whatever you want Alexa to respond with (for example "Programme Title" ). Yes, that's the idea, to enable the programme info to be available via
Alexa rather than just the stream name. The change may well also apply
to your other radio plugins as well. If you want to do a beta I'm happy
to test as I have an Alexa set-up in place.

Hi Paul, not sure if this is one for you, but I'll post here first. I use Phil's Mediaserver skill to control my LMS. When playing stations through your Radio Now Playing plugin if I ask "Alexa ask Mediaserver what's playing" I get the station or stream name returned rather than the track details. Other stations seem to give the track details (Jazz FM, Jazz Groove for example). Is that something that is under your control and can be tweaked, or one for Phil? Minor cosmetic point, when running Material Skin, with the darker interfaces/themes (I use "black"), the Radio Now Playing logo appears as a white Question Mark, which looks wrong. I think this is because the logo is radio shape rendered in black with a ? in the centre - the "black" interface means the radio shape doesn't show. Similarly, the Naim Station top level logo is rendered in black, so with the darker themes it's hard/impossible to read. Thanks bpa and Phil for looking at this. I think the best option as it's a bit of a corner case, is for me to favourite the "now playing" stream and modify the favorites.opml file to point to the radionet artwork for the required station. v1.6 works for me, and radionet stations play for me now, thanks.
However, I've noticed a peculiarity when calling radionet stations
stored as favourites via the Mediaserver Alexa smart skill. All the
radionet favourites fail to play when called from the smart skill
(error:no items in playlist, no audio plays), but they play just fine
when called from material skin.
I know Phil has recently changed the way he handles favourites in his
Mediaserver skill so that favourites are now called directly from the
URL rather than via a unique ID, but all other favourites seem OK when
called via mediaserver, it's just the radionet ones that won't play.
I've tried removing and re-favouriting, but no luck.
Any idea why a radionet favourite might behave differently? For info,
the command that the mediaserver skill issues to play a particular
favourites is in this format (via jsonrpc.js):

Hi I noticed over the weekend that some (but not all) of the the Global Catch Up Streams don't seem to work via the plugin (they report "Problem can't connect to server for : Service Name XYZ...). They play OK via the Global Player android app - so looks like they are streaming from their end OK. A couple of questions re transfer playlist to another player from material skin: 1. If the window displaying material is reduced in size, the transfer playlist button disappears, is there a way to access this apart from increasing the material window size? I seem to remember that if the window size was reduced the transfer button (and others) used to disappear due to lack of space but were replaced by a drop down - but I might be imagining that? 2. Similar question for the android app, due to lack of screen space, the transfer button isn't displayed, but here I can't increase the size to display it, so is there anyway to access this function from the android app? I'm running the mini player, I open squeezelite-x from the task bar on my primary display, put it into mini-player mode (the square with the arrow in button), and move it to the top corner of my second display, out of the way. My mistake was then looking at the task bar icon on the primary display which didn't show the progress. I've just realised that since the player is now on the second display the progress icon displays on that display, not the primary one. Hi, I posted a few weeks back that this had stopped working on the latest version when running in minimised window mode, then it seemed to work again, so I deleted the original post. I've since pin-pointed the reason for it not working, it's a bit of a corner case, but I'll re-post the details here for completeness. Probably not worth the effort to fix, unless it's an easy one. The trick to make it not work is to be using a Windows set up with multiple screens, run squeezelite-x in minimised mode and then move the minimised squeezelite-x from the primary display to the secondary display, the progress indicator in the task-bar icon then disappears. A small observation on the progress indicator in the taskbar icon... If you minimise the Squeezlite-X session (ie. use the control in the Squeezlite window title bar to make the player smaller), the status indicator in the taskbar icon disappears. Hi, Not sure this is the correct place to post, the request is can the audio from BBC TV services be made available to play via LMS? I ask in this thread, because the BBC iplayer and BBC sounds use the same login/account, so in my simplistic mind perhaps the TV audio could be made available through this plugin? The use case is to "listen" to shows that don't really need the video, mostly news/debates etc such as Newsnight, Question Time (which used to be simulcast on TV and R5 but, alas, no longer). Hi, Is it possible to make the programme duration more readily accessible? What I mean by that is when searching for a programme (browse categories, all speech, choose a category, a list of programmes is displayed). The list shows the title but would it be possible to show Title (duration)? I can't seem to easily find the duration (eg more, synopsis doesn't display this). Displaying it as Title (duration) would make browsing a lot easier, especially for example if you only want to listen to a 30min show rather than say a longer one. I think the BBC sound app displays the duration as a high level item, so the info is available, the question is can you (neatly) display it somehow? Hi, IIRC there used to be a way of setting a PW that would protect inadvertent server changes by hiding the server settings menu options. I can't seem to find it now, it was buried somewhere in the "old" settings menu, but since that has been tidied up I can't find it. There is a PW setting under settings, server, security, but I think that's for protecting remote login to the LMS rather than just hiding the server settings menu from local material clients. Any idea where it's gone, or is it no-longer in existence? Hi Criaig, Some great enhancements to the MAI screen layout, thanks. A couple of comments for your consideration. For quite a number of my artists there is limited online MAI available, so your changes to display the track listing under the Album heading works well as it fills the space with useful info when there is no Album review available. My comment here would be, in the event that no online review is available, could the "I'm sorry, didn't find any relevant info" heading be replaced with the album title, followed by the track listing? Similarly, when there are no lyrics to display under the Track heading, is it possible to replace the "I'm sorry, didn't find any relevant info" with the CD Title and Cover art picture (ie. the usual "Now Playing" info), followed by the Artist/Year/Genre? If you choose a custom colour from the settings page, this is not reflected in the drop down menu highlights on certain lists (eg try server settings, basic settings, the highlight is the default blue, not the custom colour). Not important, but thought I'd flag it in case it's an easy fix.
