Thanks for the feedback and it's glad that the shortcuts are useful for
you. Just be aware that currently the shortcut only play MP3 (not what's
set in the Qobuz plugin) when sharing from Qobuz, but Tidal is fine. I
would like to wait for this is fixed (either Michael improve the qobuz
plugin or I improve my shortcut code) before creating a new thread.

I had the same problem at first, because I copied and pasted the link.
If you did that, try clicking on it in the actual forum post: that

download gets to my phone's Shortcuts OK, but I get: "A server with the
specified hostname could not be found." Have I got the format correct? I

I was testing out the shortcut for other apps (Pandora, Apple Podcast,
Amazon Misic) to see if I could “share” my podcast to a device.  Looks
like the players (SB Radio and Touch) are sent the url but it doesn’t
play.

I am pretty new to IOS and haven't yet found how Shortcut can do what
you described, but will explore further and share in it if there is

Great work! I tried to come up with something similar a while back. But 
I struggled with Shortcuts. I didn't find an easy way to have re-usable 
"code" snippets (aka. "functions" or "procedures"). So I ended up with a 
bunch of workflows calling each others - which makes it basically 
impossible to distribute them... Would you know whether it's even 
possible to have re-usable components in a single file? Eg. I wanted to 
have a method to do calls to LMS, which would accept the player ID and 
the commands to execute, parsing results etc.

Thank you for the screenshots.  Helped confirm the values.   I didn’t
have “/jsonrpc.js” with the IP.

shortcut contain dummy values like xxx.xx.xx/jsonrpcs.js.  Seems at
setup of the shortcut there is a bug with Shortcuts. I couldn’t enter
anything when I clicked the add icon.  When I clicked “Add Shortcut”, I
could see all the blank entries in the dictionary. 

Having this may push my audio friend to finally get a rpi.  He’s still
futzing with Roon on his Boulder and his Bluesound Node trying to figure
out his setup.  I know he’s hesitant cuz a rpi looks “cheap” next to his
$12k Boulder integrated and $10k Wilson Sasha.  I did tempt him with a

What are the keys for LMSEndpoint and PlayerID?   Seems the customize
setup that was created is not working as expected. 

Maybe provide the shortcut with dummy values we would replace with our
values.

Hmmm, for some reason I can’t add LMSEndpoint on initial setup.  If I
skip or add the shortcut to configure after, I’m not sure where to
update/insert values.  Still learning the shortcut language setup.

That shortcut is brilliant!!!  I haven’t gotten it quite setup to
working but I see what is happening and it’s very user friendly to use. 


The Apple dev reqs is outrageous.  They make it very difficult to pub an
app.  I understand the review process but the fee should be removed. 
For devs, it will always be:

Android > iOS

I have been looking into develop an ios LMS Connect App and technically
tried an prototype and looked promising. However, when I read carefully
about the Apple Developer Program, found out the not only need to pay
$99USD per year but also the app review process is very rigid with
documentation required. As there shouldn't be a lot of users need this
app, not sure it's worthwhile to spend the effort.

However, I found that ios shortcut could be a workaround and spent some
time to develop one can work with Tidal and Qobuz (may work with others,
but I haven't test any), here is link to the shortcut:

After download the shortcut to your iphone or ipad, you need to set up
the LMS server and player info in the shortcut first as I couldn't find
a way to auto scan them, here are the steps:
1. Open the "Shortcut" app in ios,
2. Find the shortcut "Play on LMS", touch the shortcut to bring up the
context menu,
3. Choose "Details" in the menu, then choose the "Set-up" tab,
4. tap on the "Customise shortcut...",
5. Update the ip address (and the port if needed) in the "LMSEndpoint"
list,
6. Update the player ID(Mac Address) in the "PlayID" list, 
7. Press "Done"

Then in Qobuz or Tidal, tab on any "share" icon, you should see the new
"Play on LMS" action in the action List. Once it's chosen, will show a
pop-up to allow to you to choose between "Play now", "Play next" or "Add
to queue", and if everything is configured properly, the music will
start playing in LMS.

it's swell to be able to browse in the Tidal interface and pass forward
whatever I'm seeing in Tidal to LMS-MS queue. Took a re-read of
instructions to get it going, and it took a loong time for the
LMS-Connect interface to find the server the first time, I thought it
was broken, initially.  When I first got ROON, I thought it was the
bee's knees. Given at least three great remotes for LMS, rather good
Tidal integration and now Connect, the LMS universe is the most enabled
and flexible of anything out there today, and its free, thanks to swell
contributors like you.  Thanks again!

As the current code was done pretty roughly without any thoughtful
design pattern, even proper name convention,  so I was thinking to
improve the code before making it publicly.

However don't think I have time at the moment, and even I do, I might
use the time to add any functions, such as player selection on the fly.
So I have made the repository accessibly by public and here is the

I tried it with tidal, on a fire tablet, shared "my daily discovery",

Michael, could you please let me know what's the url scheme for Tidal
"Mix"?

i.e for Tidal track, album and playlist, I use cli/json to send the
"add/play playlist" commands with following urls:
For tack: wimp://[tidal id].flac
For album: wimp://album:[tidal id].tdl
For playlist: wimp://playlist:[tidal id].tdl
So for mix, is it wimp://mix:[tidal id].tdl or something else?

Will add the "Mix" type in the app when I can, but I temporary lost my
development/test environment (my house) due to some renovation works. So

Here is what the author said when I asked him about it in a previous
post:

-Me: It works great for me almost all of the time, but some things don't
work. For example, I can't get "My Daily Discovery" or any of the
"Master Edition - Track Radio" to play. Most playlists and albums do
work. I am not sure if this because these are handled differently?

Author: I guess the LMS Tidal plugin can only play "Track", "PlayList"
and "Album" (please correct me if I am wrong), so my app can't do much
as the playing part is managed by LMS (& the Tidal plugin).

My workaround is to (in the Tidal app) add any "My Daily Discovery",
"Radio" or "Mix" into a new PlayList, then play the PlayList.-

So maybe, as you say, if the plugin can now play mixes.

@slarti, I am not running 8.3. Can you test to see if other mixes will
run direct as well? eg "track radio" behaves as a mix (I have to add to

I agree about minimizing the runtime user interaction. However, what I
had in mind was an option in the setup menu to specify something like
"Choose at runtime" for the player so that users who only use it with

My bad. I mistakenly baited Ronnie. In a previous PM conversation with
Ronnie, he had asked what I thought of Tidal and LMS-connect, and
mentioned that he had "cobbled something together" for his use. I
assumed (wrongly) that he had developed a "LMS Connect" like cobble for
i devices.

I got him in to this! :eek::p:) But in fairness, what thread doesn't go
off the road from time to time?

app allows you to "share" albums and playlists from the native Android
Qobuz and Tidal apps (and others) to LMS.  In effect allowing you to
control playback via LMS from native Android streamaing Apps.  The

Not easy, from what I understand. Plus: in order for some parts (eg. 
request to LMS) to be re-usable, I split the workflows up into several 
workflows... maybe there's smarter ways to do this. But I've ended up 
with five of them! And no idea how these could be shared, other than 
sharing five individual shortcuts...

I am fine with the way it is, but in the interest of @SamY's question,
what about "more" pulling up three items - play on LMS, Queue on LMS,
and "change player". If you choose "change" it allows selection from the
list, and returns you to back to the three selections. This way, those
who don't want to change the player don't have additional taps.

As an alternative, I don't know the specifics of what @SamY is looking
for, but I do this: I have three often used players always synced, with
the LMS sync option "power on/off separately". This way I have LMS
connect set to one, choose, then "play on LMS", then power on the
player(s) I am listening to at the time. The only thing that does not
address is if you want to play different music on different players.

Not sure how easy to share the "shortcut" to others. One of the reason I
didn't develop the iOS version was I felt very headache when reading the
guide on how to publish the app to Apple App Store.

I'm curious as to how you came to the conclusion that few people are
interested in it. I've been using it with Qobuz ever since I first found
out about it but haven't had the need to post here (except to make an
incorrect statement based on my misunderstanding of how the app works).

While I AM here, though, I must say that it would be nice to have an
option to select the desired target player dynamically rather than in
the app. Other than that, it does what it is supposed to do and does it
well.

I find I like it allot for suggestions, then navigating from there. For
example, a 10cc album was suggested after listening to Yello, select the
suggested album, instead of playing that, go down to the rest of their
albums and pick the one you want. Or, similar artists will take you
somewhere else...

I didn't give the standard LMS UI much time, I found it difficult for
anything other than search and find.

The one quirk is some of their "collections" that are not playlists
won't play directly, but you can save the collection to a playlist, then
share the playlist

+1 I agree!

I use it exclusively, I don't even bother with the LMS UI.

I recommend it in other threads when the limitations of the LMS UI come
up, and ...

I wonder if it's partly due to the fact that there are so many apple
people out there. Even if you are an apple person you can buy a cheap
android mini tablet.

Maybe the thread title should be "free money to try this app!" Then the
first post say "just kidding about the money, but try this app"

Back to confirm the app works as expected for Deezer and after updating
to 8.3 nightly list entries are displayed with Icons and names!

Good news! Michael has fixed the bug.

If you update your LMS server to the latest v8.3 nightly build,
everything(even adding albums from LMS deezer app) is working perfectly!

Thank you for the feedback, Bonndias.

Have also reported the playlist display issue to Michael and he will fix
that when he has the capacity.

So I will do more tests and release a new version once no more issue is
found.

1. The streaming quality is only mp3 when adding albums or playlists
(while it's flac when adding tracks).

But when the track is played, the album art and track info will be
updated (sometimes).

For streaming services like Tidal , Qobuz (I guess Dezzer as well), the
share is a bit more complicated than sharing a URL to LMS. Haven't used
Dezzer yet, but will try when time allows.

It should support any app that allows the URL of a stream to be shared.
In addition to using it with Qobuz, I have been using sites such as
'this one' (https://www.hiresaudio.online/cd-quality-internet-radio/) to
share the address of an interesting looking streaming radio station with
the app in order to instantly give it a listen without having to do any
copying/pasting or even using an LMS client app. If I like what I hear,
I can launch the client and quickly add it to my favorites. Very cool!

Thank you, the workaround works fine. After all, the object is to listen
to a mix of music, so the extra step is no biggie.

My problem is when I first was trying your app, I didn't realize these
selections were unique. The screen would flash andnothing.  It took
a while uninstalling/reinstalling your app, etc until I discovered the
reason :o. Or, I should say, I realised that the "won't play" was unique
to these types of selections.

streaming service) and the LMS interface seemed very limited. Then I
stumbled onto this thread and it is a very clever and elegant way to use
an android device as a Tidal app UI -> LMS plays it.

You can add Android v8 to the working list. (Unfortunately, I'm stuck
there until I get a new phone...)

Thank you for using the app and providing the detail feedback. As I
mentioned before, I am just an amateur software developer and this is my
first and only android app, so sometimes I struggled to understand some
basic android concepts. But will definitely improve the app based on you
guys' feedback if time allows.

Back to your questions/comments, please see my responses below, thanks.

1) It works great for me almost all of the time, but some things don't
work. For example, I can't get "My Daily Discovery" or any of the
"Master Edition - Track Radio" to play. Most playlists and albums do
work. I am not sure if this because these are handled differently?

A: I guess the LMS Tidal plugin can only play "Track", "PlayList" and
"Album" (please correct me if I am wrong), so my app can't do much as
the playing part is managed by LMS (& the Tidal plugin).

My workaround is to (in the Tidal app) add any "My Daily Discovery",
"Radio" or "Mix" into a new PlayList, then play the PlayList.

2) No biggie but your app says "you can exit" and there is no exit. I
just switch over to the tidal app.

A:Yap, the home button will do as well. Again, this is due to my
ignorance of basic android concept, I don't even know what is "exit"
really doing in android.

3) Happy to report that it works on Android 12 (I have a Pixel) and also
on Amazon Fire Tablets (I used Fire Toolbox to "de-amazon" them, return
them close to stock android)

A:Thanks for the report, now there have been reports that the app works
on v9-v12 then.

4) I find that when I am in Tidal, I choose "Share" and the only options
are "copy" and "more". I have to choose "more" to get to LMS Connect.
Anyone know of an easier way, maybe get the LMS connect options along
side "copy"?

A:Sorry I can't do anything on this either as this is the design of the
Tidal app. 

5) Wondering if you were thinking about publishing it on F-Droid like
Material? I think it might make our updates easier. Just a thought.

A: Will look into this.

6) I don't see any way to determine the version number other than under
settings->apps->LMS connect, which I guess is ok. 

A:When I first developed this app, the intent was just a little toy for
myself and never thought about version control, but this is easy to add
in the next release.
