To be clear, I wasn't suggesting that the original post should have been
tagged [OT], just that as

Is this using MAPI to automate the Outlook client? I have to say I've
never, ever seen Outlook automation open an instance of MS Word. Is Word
set to be the email editor in

only 230Khz and yes only one accumulator.
I learnt Fortran a little further by reading a book "computer programming,

What do you mean by "non-consumer editions"? This isn't about forced
updates to Windows 10 once you have Windows 10 installed. This is
about duping people who are running Win 7 or 8 into allowing the
actual Win 10 OS to be installed on those boxes. That is, replacing
their OSes, not just
Your notebook will run faster by disabling all Windows Update! :)

When I saw your posting this morning - on my Cell - and all I initially saw was
the Subject line - I thought to myself - "Awesome - a FoxPro job at NASA! I
always Wanted to be in Space Program." Alas - I was sadly mistaken. Although I
did Fortran back in my college days, along w/Assembler - I
That's likely it. There was a time when Word was the default rich text
editor for Outlook, and that spawns a copy of Word in the background.
Have the client disable this option, and it's likely the problem will
go away.

Well - since the poster - and the Article did NOT specifically mention FoxPro -
its for that reason that it should be marked [NF]. But - what's a drop of an
[NF] tag between friends - not a big deal I should think...

Hi folks,
I have been going nuts for the past week researching this on the web
and discussing it with our IT consultants. I am not getting the
results I would like. I thought maybe some people here could fill in
the missing links.
"Network discovery" is the process that enables some devices
I should have added:
NO firewalls are running on any machine. Windows Firewall is turned
completely off in all respects. There are no third-party firewalls.

Ken,
If you have the latest and greatest Avast running then effectively you DO HAVE
a firewall running, albeit not by name. The latest versions of Avast have
packed in so much more than the standard AV software that they are in danger of
becoming a "Norton AV" and bloating themselves out of all
Won't affect non-consumer editions so not a problem for anyone we deal
with.

Wow - that was a LONG time ago. You left SDC in '64 whilst I left the Womb in
'63. Gosh - I don't feel so old anymore!
:-)
That being - at the co. where I work here - in the Developers area - I'm
probably one of the oldest here. Of my team of 5 FoxPro dev's - I think 2 of
them are older than

CentOS has not been updated since it was installed on the machine
something like 7 years ago.

Troubleshooting heterogenous Microsoft networks is notoriously
difficult, and good practitioners who can nail all the issues with the
varied protocols, versions, etc, are hard to find and worth their
weight in platinum. I've seen similar issues with "Network Discovery"
and just worked around them.
Remember I said, a few weeks ago, "Windows Automatic Updates: just say no"?
If you didn't have enough reason to heed me then, maybe now you do:

I would just suggest you build a table that lists of the machines in
your network, and when you want to access any one of these, you pop up
that list and have it run.

It's even easier than that. It can be done using Word 2010, and
