The .NET Extender is receiving its attention too. We'll release an update
to deal better with the Decimal Type and .NET Generics. Also we are working
in improvements to make your path to .NET smoother. We hope you start using
the .NET
Michael,
Have you bought the .Net Extender then? If so what are your
comments/observations so far?
I looked at it a few months ago and it was a little rough around the edges
but I must admit that this is something that I should take a closer look at
especially as they are actively looking
The documentation is a bit poor but you can get past it with a little
effort and Samuel is pretty good at coming back to you.
Once I got the hang of it all it has proven to be very easy to use
except w.r.t. the .Net Decimal type which has caused me some problems

Thanks Michael,
I think I'll invest in that then.

I am using the extender to save me writing a interop layer between vfp
and a .Net application (in this case Sage MMS or 200 or whatever it is
called this week). You can also use it to add .NET controls to your apps.
The compiler (in theory) will allow a vfp app to run as a .Net
application,
As for the compiler, running on other platforms PDA's, Linux etc etc without
licensing issues.

For anyone interested in the above...
I have sucessfully integrated a system with Sage MMS (.Net 2.0) for data
extraction using the above.
While there are some foibles it has been pretty straight forward and
etecnologia have been prompt and helpful. Much simpler than writing a
c# interop
Hi Michael
Let us know how you get on, I for one would be interested.
Are you using vfp8 or 9? Does it make any difference which?
A side-question: did you consider accessing the SQL data directly,
rather than go via the SDK?

VFP 9 SP1 (I think 9 is much better than 8)
I do access the data directly for reading some things but this leaves me
the issue of keeping up with structure changes so I dont like the
approach. Also I wouldn't want to update the system using direct
rights. The downside is that the sdk uses up

I only work on MMS (soon to be Sage 200 if I understand the emails they
keep sending me) and there are a couple of options.
The native sage import routines are fine once you get the hang of them
for straight uploads.
You can't (yet) access .NET collections as arrays so heavy processing
comes
for .Net Extender).

iirc lots of people have said that nothing like this was possible?
Someone at M$ (RG) also said the Report Writer would never be revisited,
and yet in VFP9 it was overhauled. Just goes to show that nothing is
certain except death and taxes.

Has anyone had a look at the above from www.etecnologia.net?
This looks like the work MS should have been doing.

The .Net extender could save me hours of c# work creating wrappers if it
works, but I wont get to look at it for a few weeks (too many deadlines
approaching).
