Re: [PEDA] IPC 356 netlist

2002-02-26 Thread Mike Reagan

Darryl,
I have question ...if you might be able to answer it about the 356 netlist.
I have been sending netlists to some vendors, but on some designs we tent
all the vias. Does the netlist normally ignore vias anyway.I cant see
how a board house could probe a via that we have tented. Any insight how
it works?

Those who would use Protel's IPC-D-356 netlist: BEWARE! Protel leaves the
net name blank for uncommitted pads. Some systems will mis-interpret this
and create a net which interconnects them all. The solution is to either
manually edit the netlist after generation, or coordinate closely with
your
PCB fab or testing service. The service I used was unable to configure
their
import/setup software to ignore the no-name net. Many if not most
fabs/testing services generate the test netlists directly from the Gerber
 data.

  Radek,
assuming you are talking about P99SE, the IPC 356 netlist can be
generated as a CAM output in PCB. When generating you cam
  files you can
insert a Testpoint report. As a sub selection within the test
  point report,
you may select IPC 356. After generating the file, exporting
  it is done in
the same manner as any file you're exporting.

  I have a simple question:
Is it possible to export IPC 356 netlist directly from Design

If not, is there any other way to do it.

i always assumed the bd was test before solder mask (bed of nails)

i don't think a flying probe test needs the vias
