[PEDA] Meetings
Sorry I haven't gotten around to the subject at hand- I've been keeping the mouse wheels burning. The building that I work in has a restaurant that may accomodate us for a meeting in Worcester. Let me know how many would like to attend and a date to meet. I'll set things up at the restaurant and let people know of any costs involved. This restaurant has a great daily All you can eat buffet at lunch time. I have already arranged for invitations to the list to be sent to the three persons other than myself in this area who responded to this post, and I will be contacting Mr. James directly. If any Protel users in other areas wish to set up a corresponding list, I'd be glad to facilitate it (it takes a couple of minutes); in this way, it will be easy to find local user groups or to form them. Re: [PEDA] Meetings
Sean, Meetings are a great idea, not just to put a face to the email, but usually a whole lot of great networking goes on. It is usually a wonderful forum to exchange ideas on using this tool. I have always come a way from these type of meetings with great ideas both given and taken. I would attend one pretty much anywhere in New England and as far south as Maryland if need be. I did start the Northeast users group for VeriBest because there was not one east of the Mississippi, and I organised a couple meetings. Which were very well attended as a success. But shortly after that I changed jobs and was not using that tool anymore so I had to step down from that. I guess since you are the one suggesting this you are automatically elected to organize it. At least that was how it worked with VeriBest. We had both of those meetings in one of our companies conference rooms to keep costs down. Though should you or anyone else need some help or if no one else steps up to the plate I would be willing to lend a hand. It appears there might be a good concentration of users up in Mass. area. Find the greatest concentration and kinda center it from that. Bob I'm in CT Robert M. Wolfe, C.I.D. Re: [PEDA] Meetings
I understand that the user group started with local meetings in the San Jose California area, but there have not been actual meetings for a long time, except for a few Protel-sponsored meetings at PCB Design Conference West and East. Worcester is about an hour away from me and I'd be happy to attend a meeting in that area or even as far east as Boston. Local users are obviously free to organize meetings wherever, and I see no harm in using this Forum to publicize them. If it ever happens that local meetings become so numerous that publicizing them internationally on this list is a burden, we can use a calendar page on one of the protel-users lists on yahoogroups.com. I'm also willing to attend user meetings outside the Mass./Conn. area, but I might be looking for expenses It would be good for a local meeting to have a company sponsor which would provide a meeting place At 10:15 AM 12/21/2001 -0500, Sean James wrote: Has anybody ever thought about having local meetings for Protel users?
