Haven't tried it myself but there is a save as .DOT in the save options for schematic. Re: [PEDA] Extracting template from schematic
can't you just save it as a .dot file? delete the schem and you can edit the primitives you have to use the drop box for file type and not just stick the .dot extension on Dennis Saputelli [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > > In a message dated 5/17/2002 3:13:47 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: > > > Why not copy one of the existing schematics with template to a new file... > > delete the circuitry and paste the new circuit into the copy?! > > > > > > I already thought of that, but there are some things which are better done > using the template. Re: [PEDA] Extracting template from schematic
also to be able to modify it. Steve Hendrix i answered my own question... my suggestion doesn't allow you to modify it... but consider saving the template in an ascii file... perhaps the modifications you need could be done in a text editor.. just throwing out some ideas since i don't know what kind of mods you want to the template.. good luck duane foster -Original Message- From: Duane Foster [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, May 17, 2002 12:05 PM To: 'Protel EDA Forum' Subject: Re: [PEDA] Extracting template from schematic Why not copy one of the existing schematics with template to a new file... delete the circuitry and paste the new circuit into the copy?! duane foster * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To post a message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] * * To leave this list visit: * http://www.techservinc.com/protelusers/leave.html * * Contact the list manager: * mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] * * Forum Guidelines Rules: * http://www.techservinc.com/protelusers/forumrules.html * * Browse or Search previous postings: * http://www.mail-archive.com/proteledaforum@techservinc.com * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Why not copy one of the existing schematics with template to a new file... delete the circuitry and paste the new circuit into the copy?! duane foster -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, May 17, 2002 11:52 AM To: Protel EDA Forum Subject: Re: [PEDA] Extracting template from schematic In a message dated 5/17/2002 2:48:50 PM Eastern Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: > Forgive me if you have already tried this: > > If you go to Document Options/Sheet Options > at the top of the dialog box it shows the template > .dot file name and .ddb file it is associated with. > A search for this database file with the Find shortcut > off the start button should find it for you. > > Unfortunately not helpful at all. The files I have, have been through two other computer systems in other companies, and no one I have access to has ever seen the template file. All the information is embedded in the schematic sheet, so it still displays just fine, but I need to extract it and get it into some additional schematics, and also to be able to modify it. My past experience with this list has been that somebody pops up with the right answer inside of 10 minutes, or else what I'm asking is impossible. Guess I'd best get busy redrawing the template. Re: [PEDA] Extracting template from schematic
Forgive me if you have already tried this: If you go to Document Options/Sheet Options at the top of the dialog box it shows the template .dot file name and .ddb file it is associated with. A search for this database file with the Find shortcut off the start button should find it for you. Regards, Steve Smith Product Engineer Staco Energy Products Co.
