i answered my own question...  my suggestion doesn't allow you to modify
it...  but consider saving the template in an ascii file... perhaps the
modifications you need could be done in a text editor..   just throwing out
some ideas since i don't know what kind of mods you want to the template..

Why not copy one of the existing schematics with template to a new file...
delete the circuitry and paste the new circuit into the copy?!
