Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS 3 OS X/macOS

2018-03-12 Per discussione Mike Hyslop
I have to second what Nyall said. Thanks to William for all the work
packaging QGIS.

Some feedback: installation was straightforward and painless. It took less
than 15 minutes start to finish to upgrade to QGIS 3, and I still have
access to python 2 and 3, plus QGIS 2.18 and 3.0. Kudos and thanks!

My QGIS 3 package for OS X/macOS is ready.

Champion! I'm sure you've made a lot of people very happy with this
announcement.

For those who know what you do, your work is very much valued! It's a
shame that packaging is somewhat underappreciated and under-supported
by the wider QGIS user community :(

Nyall

Besides the big QGIS release, there are a couple other big changes
in the packaging.

- Minimum OS X 10.10 Yosemite

- Requires Python 3.6 from python.org (note it must be this and not homebrew or
other distribution).

- except for what I include in the GDAL Complete package, all extra necessary
python modules are available from pypi with pip. These are installed by the
QGIS installer and need an internet connection at that time.

Make sure to install Python 3 first, otherwise the GDAL Complete python
components will not be installed (these are also required by QGIS).

Currently the globe plugin is not included, but I'll get that out in an update
soon. The new QGIS 3D features are included.

GDAL format plugins will follow soon (ECW, MrSID, GRASS).

motivo dell'errore: ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'osgeo'

/Library/Frameworks/GDAL.framework/Versions//Python/3.6/site-packages
?
Spero di si.

Mi dici il contenuto del seguente file:
/Library/Frameworks/GDAL.framework/Versions//Resources/gdal-py3.6.pth

Well, please consider it a wish list item for the future. It can be important

Re: [Qgis-user] Teaching book

2018-03-12 Per discussione Kurt Menke
Hi Dimitris,
Yes as Alex mentioned, we are in the initial stages of working on the 3rd
Edition of Mastering QGIS. We hope to have it done around the release of
3.2.

Another great option for the classroom is Discover QGIS
https://locatepress.com/dqw which is an
updated version of the GeoAcademy curriculum. It was written specifically
for the classroom. It is a workbook with lab exercises, data, discussion
questions and solution files. It teaches GIS using QGIS as opposed to just
teaching how to use QGIS. It too will need to be updated to v3 but most of
it should still be relevant.

Kurt

There's the Mastering QGIS by Kurt Menke, et al.

https://www.packtpub.com/application-development/mastering-qgis

AFAIK, a revision is on its way to QGIS 3.

Transparency is currently not supported in 3D view - all objects are
fully opaque. In 3D, rendering of semi-transparent objects is not
trivial and requires some advanced tricks.

May I second this call? To everybody interested in some cool QGIS
features: if you earn (some) money with QGIS: what about giving back
some of it to QGIS development :-)

Re: [Qgis-user] [QGIS-Developer] QGIS 3 OS X/macOS

2018-03-12 Per discussione Richard Duivenvoorde

Whee, William,

All good news! Congrats with all your life changes too :-)

Though not a Mac owner I've seen a lot of messages about it.

Thanks for this big step!

Is it an idea to put the .dmg file (together with the link to Python 3.6
on the QGIS Website, as 'offical mac installer'?
For the QGIS project it would be a good thing to have such an official
installer on the website.

Another big question (for Mac users), was if it is possible to provide a
'signed' installer. So question would be: IF we as OSGeo or QGIS could
arrange the key for you. Would it be a hassle to sign the installer? Or
are you in other ways reluctant to use this?

Again, thanks for this work.

Regards,

Richard Duivenvoorde

ECW not even appear in the list….

libNCSEcw.dylib file and in the second gdal_ECW_JP2ECW.dylib file. I don’t know

[Qgis-user] QGIS 3 OS X/macOS

2018-03-12 Per discussione William Kyngesburye
Sorry for the long wait. It's been a hectic year - personal life changes
(marriage), but I'm finally getting back into gear.

My QGIS 3 package for OS X/macOS is ready. Besides the big QGIS release, there
are a couple other big changes in the packaging.

GDAL format plugins will follow soon (ECW, MrSID, GRASS).

>>> import sys
>>> sys.path

Fin qua nessun problema, anzi mi pare velocissimo in apertura

Re: [QGIS-it-user] Modulo network analisys/routing

2018-03-12 Per discussione Spitzbuhl Spitzbuhl
Ciao a tutti,

CIRCUITO A:
 X--X-X-X
P1 L1 P2L2 P3 L3 P4

CIRCUITO B:
 X---X-X
P5 L4 P6L5 P7

Grazie

Saluti

Giuseppe

Currently we have two bug reports (and a few duplicates) referring to this
problem:
https://issues.qgis.org/issues/17416
https://issues.qgis.org/issues/17315
(they could be probably merged into one report - the backtraces are nearly
identical.

Intel graphics cards. It could be related to a particular version of the
drivers as well. My laptop also has Intel graphics card, but I have not had
any crashes.

Maybe if affected users posted their graphics card model + driver version,
we could find get closer to identifying the source of the problem.

Re: [Qgis-user] Teaching book

Hi all,

I have been teaching introduction to GIS (300 level course for
geoscientists) for a couple of years; I am looking to find the best book
to use for teaching - for this level 'best' is adequate introductory
materials with some advanced level materials; ctitical is a consistent
dataset that can follow the book.

I have used GIS fundamentals by Bolstad, and Learning Qgis by Graser;

both have advantages and disadvantages for the purpose I want them - the
GIS fundamentals is closer to what I need but now is dated and would
like to use something newer.

Any suggestions?

best,
Dimitris

No, you should download the specified SDK version, 5.3. Since it's C++, it's
easy to get missing symbol errors, even if the API doesn't change.

Note that the latest plugin has updated instructions, including the corrected
download link.

Disinstallo Qgis2.18, cancello la cartella c:\OSGeo4W64 e la cartella .qgis2

Grazie per l'attenzione. Scusate ancora.

[QGIS-it-user] Fwd: [Qgis-user] QGIS 3D crowd-funding - last call

2018-03-12 Per discussione Paolo Cavallini
FYI
Saluti.

 Messaggio Inoltrato

Dear QGIS users,

We are fast approaching the deadline and already in the final week for
QGIS 3D crowd-funding campaign:
https://www.lutraconsulting.co.uk/crowdfunding/more-qgis-3d/

It will be a last opportunity if we fail to raise the required funds.
So, if you/your organisation are interested in 3D, it will be a good
time to contribute to the campaign.

Please also spread the words to those who might be interested in such
features.

Regards,
Saber

Re: [Qgis-user] ERDAS ECW/JPEG2000 SDK

2018-03-12 Per discussione Dave Pepper
Hi
After reading QGIS user archive here and
https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/124794/installing-qgis-with-ecw-support-on-mac
I see that this problem of reading ecw files in QGIS has some history.

My latest attempt was to reinstall GDAL_Framework-2.1.3-1 and
GDAL-ECW_Plugin-2.1.3-1
from here http://www.kyngchaos.com/software/frameworks#gdal_complete
and I added the library "libNCSEcw.dylib" to GDAL 2.1 Libraries folder from
ERDAS ECW/JPEG2000 SDK 5.4 rather than 5.3
I figured that the library file probably didn't change between 5.3 and 5.4
versions.

I even restarted my Mac OS X 10.11.6
restarted QGIS 2.18
opened a new project and tried to load my raster file in .ecw format
ERROR: Unsupported Data Source: /Users/s432198/Dropbox/Mudgee veg/abc1.ecw
is not a supported raster data source

This should work so I must be doing something wrong?
