One app that claims to do a lot of what high precions gps does is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gr.stasta.mobiletopographer=en_GB It does allow averaging and shows quite a lot of what is going on, but still limited by the phone's antenna. May have to take some of the accuracy

Unfortunately that link goes back to NBN and a page that no longer exists so presumably it is the same dataset. Qgis gives various errors depending on the analysis but always with those 8 VC's, when trying 'check validity' it says there is a problem with self intersection. Not sure how to fix

Actually I have the opposite problem, I want to show the point labels, my file only has points in it. I can see the labels in the .gpx file if I look at it with notepad++ but the labels will not show up in other programs such as osmand or indeed google earth.
