I fixed the initial issue by adding a combo box to select a view as DEM

I agree with the need to mantain a clear interface, but IMHO putting some
of this actions in the pop-up track menu would be a great facility for
everyday use, and this does not necessary mean to increase the number of
icons drastically. A good solution for this would be one only button
better. I could add a combobox to select the view.

he requests to replace elevation data of a track and more than one DEM layer is
active. This would preserve the current structure and not change anything for
the majority of users who work with just one s

Probably it is a corner case as , at least now is known what happens.
About solutions, here is an idea:
- As you say the origin of the problem is that the "replace elevation with
DEM data" filter is called from a tab that have no relation with any DEM,
so is impossible to guess from w
pen a fall back is needed. And the
user might not notice wondering again.
Probably there are more caveats and corner cases to think about.

If I like to add DEM Data to a given track, which containes no DEM Data,
I use the filter "Substitude elevation data".
The map "DEM-Data" is activated and seems to work propper as usual.
If press the the gear button to add DEM-Data, the task seems to
