Re: [qmailtoaster] How to forward postmaster on machine with no domains?
Warren (mailing lists) wrote: As I have mentioned before, I have 2 toasters, one handles normal emails for the company and the other handles the opt-in list for our customers. The opt-in machine has no domains on it and is essentially set up as an open relay, but kept behind the firewall on the private network and with port 25 incoming blocked by iptables. This allows me to send out emails to the list as I want and all bounce-backs are handled by the regular server. There are no domains set up on this machine at all and tcp.smtp has a single entry: :allow,RELAYCLIENT= (don't try this at home kids - it's a recipe for disaster if you do not do it properly!). Heres the problem, it still gets a bunch of messages that look like this in the queue: Envelope Sender: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Envelope Recipient: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (To Be Delivered) Date: 27 Jul 2006 02:33:13 - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: failure notice How do I tell qmail to forward these messages to my regular machine? Remember, I do not have a domain set up in vpopmail so I cannot use the vpopmail forwarding. Is the main mail server also on the private network? If so, you may try a smtp route which may/may not work. You could also come up with a recipe to use your /var/qmail/alias/.qmail-postmaster file to send to a different email account. You should have this file already. I personally also sym link .qmail-root and .qmail-anonymous to this file to get them all in the same place. - QmailToaster hosted by: VR Hosted http://www.vr.org - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[qmailtoaster] Problem with .qmail files
Hello, Hopefully I'm posting this to the correct place. We are using qmailtoaster for our mail server which is a Fedora Core 5 box. I have installed qmail toasters, vpopmail, simscan, spamassassin and clamav. Our old servers use the Qmailrocks installation. On those the .qmail-default file was all that was needed for default accounts. On our new qmailtoaster setup, I need to create a .qmail-username file for each user created, otherwise the mail bouces or goes to the default catchall if configured. This in itself isn't a problem, and I assume that this is correct behaviour. Although I'm not certain on that. The problem I've run into now, is that one of our domains has the format [EMAIL PROTECTED] resulting in a .qmail-firstname.surname. This does not work, qmail seems to ignore the file completely and sends the mail to the default mailbox as if it were incorrectly addressed. I again assume this is down to the .surname portion of the qmail file. The files are created and configured exactly as standard firstname files. Have I done something wrong, is this a fault ? I'm still reasonably new to qmail, although I can move my way around it, troubleshooting problems of this nature are something I'm not used to. Any help that can be shed would be excellent. If I've posted this incorrectly, please accept my apologies. Re: [qmailtoaster] Problem with .qmail files
Are you creating a .qmail file for every real user? I don't think I understand what you're doing here clearly. FYI: .qmail files cannot contain ., but qmail will interpret a : in the .qmail file as a period. Try .qmail-firstname:lastname Erik On 7/27/06, Craig Smith [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hello, Hopefully I'm posting this to the correct place. Just a little help in your translation: You have a text file with 900 users and passwords in clear text. You need to know if there is a way to add them directly to vpopmail, not typing them manually. You could do a script. i don't know if anyone in the list has ever made a script for this purpose. Lo que puedes hacer es un script. No se si en la lista alguien más ya realizó uno. you can do it with a bash script, although if you have php you can do a php script that runs as a command line that reads the txt file. por medio de un script de bash, lo puedes hacer, aunque si tienes instalado php, también podrías hacer un script que puedas ejecutar desde línea de comando y que lea el archivo txt. Re: [qmailtoaster] Non existent recipients reject
Gracias y un salu2 Erik Espinoza escribió: Hi Samuel, Can you send me the question in spanish, might help me understand it a little better. Re: [qmailtoaster] Problems and suggestion with upgrade.sh script
Samuel, I'm afraid I'm not much help with your dependency issues. I can address other items though. Samuel Díaz García wrote: Suggestions: a) Make /etc/courier directory backup too. I've added this to the qmt-newmodel.sh script. b) Allow --target $ARCH into all rpmbuild commands (for example, when I can, I compile into i686 platform, not 386, I only use 386 for compiled packages, but manually compiled, I prefer optimize it. The qmt-newmodel.sh script automatically detects and uses the appropriate $ARCH value. c) Separate download process, build, install process. The qmt-newmodel.sh script does this too. d) Test if the package is downloaded yet (I don't want to download again when I aborted an ungrade process. The qmt-newmodel.sh script does this too. It also check many other things, like if the package is already built or already installed. e) Allow distro, arch, etc... parameters.
