I'd do that, but I have no idea how to administer or deal with CentOS of any version or variety. I'd never even heard of it before running into mentions of it with qmail-toaster. All of the other servers here are Fedora Core, and I would prefer to hand over a homogenous setup to the next person

Hummm... Try this: mysql -uvpopmail -hlocalhost -p vpopmail #at the prompt: show tables; #you'll see a list, then at the prompt do this: select count(*) from vlog; It should show you a number (in a box). Originally i thought this test would have failed, but it sounds like it'll work now.

If i recall you had postfix installed previously and maybe had some legacy courier stuff left over. The easy thing is to remove the courier rpm's and reinstall. Here are a couple of test options for imap if you are interested. Not sure it'll help you in fixing, but you can see what it
