Hiya Joe White!
Welcome to the boards. I hope you succeed and do well.
In your efforts, I hope you consider that you need more training and education
in movement while you are learning to become an advocate in the disAbility
movement while you advocate for the prevention of injury.
I hope by now
Hi, Nope I just got a great deal. I'm surprised the
button hook was so cheap, but the Ebay listing never said it was silver. The art
piece I am kinda surprised was so cheap. He is a professional artist. I've seen
his art on gallery web pages for $200-$400, but he is not well known or

Hi Tammie Lou,
It makes perfect sense. This is where I run into problems. I had my right leg removed in '89 and sit on a 'custom formed' seat, and when I try to shift enough to remove the sling I lose my center of balanceenough to effect my sitting posture. I havealwaysused a standing pivot when
Hi Jack,
I've used the Spenco Bed Pad with Silicore Paddingoverlay for 18 years and think it's great. Thesiliconized hollow core shaftsdon't mat down, retaining their loft and air flow. It's washable and dryable, reversible with cotton/polyester fabric on one side and moisture-resistant nylon on

Lana,
You've mentioned before that Gabe gets home help via a waiver (and maybe some other source as well?) 24/7.
I am shocked by that as probably many here on the list are. That would be three 8-hr shifts, or bywhichever arrangement, and I know
of no one living at home qualifying for that
Hi, I'm a C4/C5. Do they lift weights or just stretch and move around?
Hey Greg,
Lisa Ericson's seated aerobic workout is one hour long with a 15 minute warm-up a half hour aerobic segment and then a 15 minute cool down with stretching included. She is a para herself but there is a girl in the

Hi Dana,
A great looking seat. I'm using a seat that was made from a mold made straight from my bottom, with the right front built-up where my leg should be. It looks like this one can be shaped like my old one is. I'll be showing all of this to my PT so I'll be getting her opinion on them.
Hi Joe,
Welcome to the Quad-List. I love your idea of an information booth at the Popcorn Festival. Getting the public awareness raised concerning the abilitiesthat someone in a chair has to offer is very important.
Ijust had someone last week ask me ifI preferredto be called "handicapped"
I'm never surprised anymore. I know 2 brothers with birth defects that live
in their own home and their father GETS PAID to manage their 24/7 help. These
are guys that wouldn't know if they were in a nursing home or pigeon coop.

Yeah. Lana mentioned DD was involved and THAT is a whole other ball game! Anyone with developmental disabilities
has a world of opportunities open to them. Again, life isn't fair and the government is NOT here to help you. LOL

Lori,
Its true that individuals with developmental
disabilities have different needs and different programs. Working through the DD
maze is just as difficult and problematic. Ive worked through
both in our state. We had to fight to get Gabes programs and prove that

Hi Lana
I agree with you on in home care, whether it's their own home or a SLA home. 35 years ago I started working for the State of Nevada in a "mental institution" on a ward for severe and profound MR's. There were 45 to 50 men, women and children all lumped together. Two years later they began
Hey guys,
I have a pressure sore right on the inside of my thigh at the top. I had a
pressure mapping but no pressure shows there so can't get Medicare to cover a
different cushion. School starts soon and really can't afford to take off.
Has anyone healed a sore while being up between 6-8
