Hi Eric,
Do you open the closed system urinary? I assume you do if you're using an
indwelling or sp catheter.

Hi Theo,
I use white distilled vinegar the ratio is nothing exact. I'd guess 2-3
Tablespoons vinegar to 1 Quart Water.

Hi - All My new Urologist thinks I should irrigate thru my supra pubic
catheter about once a week or so, to help prevent bladder stones. Does anyone
else in here do this on a regular basis ? It sounds like a good idea, but I was
wondering if irrigating might cause more UTI's or bladder
I irrigate w/ tap h20 and vinegar every morning, been clog and uti free for
about 2 yrs.

Eric - tap water? Our water has all sorts of stuff in it. I only use sterile
water only when I have started passing clots.

It is a crap shoot. When I began having problems with my catheter plugging
beginning in 1989... it happened so often that I *had to* irrigate. I was
not having any UTI problems at the time. Only sludge and much sediment. I
cannot remember what I used way back then but it was since then that
I've found that as long as I drink plenty of water I have no clogs and no
problems.
