I tried with the credentials you sent me. I can't log in.

Now, here's the thing. I tried to see if there was any difference in
the headers between your site and mine... I compared the headers.

My headers for your protected page:
GET /hidden HTTP/1.1
Cache-Control: max-age=0, max-age=0
Authorization: Basic Zm9vOnNlY3JldA==

My headers for my protected page:
GET /protected/ HTTP/1.1
Cookie: session_token=c464b0d6431afc9b5bda345829dbaa3e2bbb6479;
auth_token=f7cd44cf66b7051fa0ea38cb566dba2529181a71

Authorization: Basic Zm9vOnNlY3JldA==

The differences seem to be:
1. You have a cache-control header.
2. You don't have a Cookie line in the header - mine has a cookie for
session_token and auth_token.

I don't know what to suggest. Perhaps, someone can help if this would
make a difference!?

Any other extensions that you're using?
Cheers,
Mohit.

Is your site public? May I try to log in? Email me at tech at onghu
dot com though it's 330AM and I'm off to bed very soon. Sorry that I'm
being unable to find the problem :S

I'm not sure why this isn't working, my only thought is that somehow
the username and password variables are not getting set.

Any other information you need I am happy to provide.

Thanks for your help.

David, what version of Radiant are you using?

That's not good, of course. I remember that the login box will pop up
if the page type is 'simple_password' even if there is no 'config' page
part. So, at least, the extension seems to be kicking in (that means
that the installation is ok).

I'm using these as the password settings and it works fine:
user: foozball
password: secret
realm: kingdom

When you are prompted for the password, are you getting the correct
realm? In Firefox, it should say: 'A username and password is being
requested for The site says 'kingdom'' - are you getting the
correct realm? On IE, it should say: 'The server localhost at kingdom
is ...'

Cos if you're not, that means your YAML is not being parsed correctly.

Lastly, by any chance, is your config page part using a filter? It
should be 'none'.

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Mohit.

HI David,

David Hayes wrote:
Not sure what's going on here, but I have tried several times to get
HTTP Authentication working and no joy. The extension seems to be
working fine, I setup a new page with the simple_password type, enter
my YAML into the config area, and everything looks good. However when
I go to test this I get a login dialog as I should but no combination
of the username or password I set in config will work. This is on
Radiant 6.9. Any help would be great.

I just wrote up a simple guide for it on the Summer Reboot - could you
check if all the steps are done correctly?
