frequent Quickbeam use and a desire to stick with 700c wheels for
interchangeability with my Schmidt hub I'm offering up ye Bleriot,
which has been my main ride for the last year. I'd say it is in

I did a week tour with my 16 year old daughter in 2007 on Prince
Edward Island. My 22 year old Santana Arriva worked great. I really

Thanks to the bunch for the advice.
I've commuted to work twice with these bars and like them a lot. I've
tilted the bars a bit more and changed the saddle from a B-17 to a
Flyer. The springs help on a bumpy grass strip I ride through.
Having the sprung saddle on the upright bike seems to work
Nothing yet in Tyler TXbut I was near the end of the pack last
time too.

I'm getting ready to wrap my Nitto Randonneur bars. I'm thinking about
putting a set of the gel bar pads underneath the tape, but then I
started to wonder if just wrapping another set of cork tape around the
bars would be just as good. I'm planning on finishing with a shellac
coating.

last time I re-wrapped the bars on her Cross-Check, I just left the base
layer in place and re-wrapped the top layer. I've never shellaced cork tape
before but I'm sure you'd still be able to notice a gel pad or an extra
Oh, sorry... I didn't realize there was more than one color/material
for the Baggins bags... these are waxed cotton canvas which seems to
me to be a slightly olive-y khaki-y sorta color. I'm not all that good
with color descriptions, as you see. These were all purchased within
the last 6 months

Another option I've used with success is to remove the old tape, and
use strips of that used tape in lieu of gel. The thin but noticable
addition of padding takes out some of the harshness of a single taped
bar (if indeed that's your perception of same). It also doesn't add as
much to overall

To answer some questions:
1) Yellow Tressorstar tape, amber shellac. It only took 2 rolls and
about a third of a can of Bullseye shellac.
2) The color of the bike is supposed to be butterscotch. Initially I
hated it, but I like it now. I got the frame in the homeless section
of the

I've used shellaced cloth over cork. You get the qualities of both -
the cushion of cork with the durability of shellac'd cloth. I usually
wrap the cork very tight, and with little overlap. This helps remedy
the fat-bar effect.
