I had the same issue with the stem but didn't attribute it to being a prototype. I can't use taller stems at all because they just don't go down deep enough. Is that not the case with standard Riv's? I used Billie's and really enjoyed it. It's clear that the frame was built for sweptbacks.

The adapter cage setup is "ok". I had it on my Motobecane restoration, set up with 13-32 6 speed in the back, 30/46 in the front. It covered the range fine, but the Campy rear derailleur doesn't track the shape of the cassette the way modern derailleurs do. I swapped it out for a better

I concur. I've got the R10 front and rear derailleurs on my Soma San Marcos with a 10-speed 11-32 cassette and a VO 46/30 crankset, and shifting is smoth and trouble-free. The R10 rear even works better than the XT 780 rear derailleur that it replaced. Very happy with my microSHIFT

Have someone take 3 pictures of you riding from the side. Hands on the Hoods, Ramps and Tops. If you have natural elbow bend in the ramps, go 3cm shorter. If you only have natural bend on the tops, you need shorter reach bars and a shorter stem. Something on the order of an 80mm reach bar
