Have black tape on one of my bikes. Think I got it on eBay and it was
designed for motorcycles. It is quite bright. The tape Rivendell sells is
brighter. But, man, the good black stuff is bright.

Matthew has a good idea. Or maybe the Alamanzo as an actual 2 day route?
I'm probably in, although not on a Rivendell. Unless the route was super
flat, and I was staying in a hotel.
I'm sure some good ideas will come up during the winter.

We did not ride to the polls after work today. A combination of a later
time off work, light drizzle in the low 40's and more traffic made me
decide to just keep driving the carpool to the polling station after work.

Agree with the less than optimum performance of the stock 720 pads. Even
run of the mill Shimano pads seem much better, IMO.

Everyone looks at this differently. With my weight of 230, even 38mm tires
seem to be on the verge of too skinny. It's why my bike choices are
changing. Probably going to end up with 45 to 60mm wide tires eventually
on whatever I keep.

Probably going to replace those with MKS sneakers.

Then again, as this is on a non-Rivendell bike, my observation is off topic

Anyway ... it sounds like your yoke angle is too high

after bolting the front of the fender to the Nitto Mini rack.
But it's all moot at present as I sold the Sam Hillborne last weekend.

For the front fender, try the shorter mudflap that Rivendell sells.
That cured the problem on my bike.

I'll also keep an eye open. Thought I had the only SimpleOne in the Twin

Bummer on the theft. Hopefully it'll turn up soon.
