I'm using a Shimano XTR M9125-1 with a Q of 174mm on my Rohloff Prospector
(first generation). With short axle XTR SPD pedals, it feels like a 168mm q
factor. I've tried several different cranks, and I think this is as narrow
as you can go. And if you are a super strong rider, maybe there's the
(better than this), but this is for sure better feeling for touring with
its stouter construction.

I've got a pair on my Crust Romanceur that's set up as a trail and dirt tourer.
I use them mostly on singletrack but have had them out on an overnighter
covering about 120 miles in two days.
I really like them, and they hold up surprisingly well on long rides for me. I

I ordered a SUNXCD double crankset through a European dealer for a new build,
and unfortunately they included a 28 tooth chainring in place of the 30 I
ordered. The large chainring is a 46, so this now leaves me with an 18 tooth
gap rather than 16.

What a great thread. I would say the worst thing about buying a Rivendell
is that every option is a win. That said, people who ride Riv (in my
opinion) know exactly what type of riding they are wanting to do and then
pick out which bike is best for that. Most all of them are going to attach

My Sam is recent, purchased in May. Blue 51.
The geo chart for my Sam gives 53 as the space between chainstay crimps. With
Surly Knards, I see at least 3-4mm on either side, maybe more.
The Maxxis Pace supposedly* fits a bit smaller than listed width, at least on
something like my 19mm

Actually, the sticker mentioned above, and that same sticker on my Sam, are
recent developments; I was surprised to find it when the frame arrived. Grant
has in fact repeatedly stressed the unimportant of specific tubing in a frame;
however, he does seem proud of these proprietary tubes.

Though a recent Blug post stated a Nitto restock, I can'tell seem to find this
item, only the RIGHT side mount (I know, a very picky distinction of mine).
Before I call Riv, I wondered if any who uses this mount could testify to its
effectiveness (or if possibly there's one out there FS?), or

but the rack has no fender support. Also, this year I removed my fenders over
