According to my conversation with RBW, the Bombadil with the diagonal
tubes (full length to the dropouts) will carry a slight price increase
to offset the tubing and funky lugwork (can't wait to see that). The
double TT version of the Bomba is apparently no longer being made

I can see that argument, but a Phil Wood rear hub dishes the wheel
quite a bit in back. So not sure a disc wheel is inherently weaker.
The Hunqa is too much of a personal issue for me to comment
objectively. But my initial impression has not changed.
The Simple-One does look nice. Actually
I'm mostly interested in the Andel cranks. The logo will likely be
removable by grade steel wool(ultrafine).
I'm trying to get some of these in a 110/74 , but no one in the USA
sells them except maybe Gaerlan Cycles, which sells some similar
looking under the Vuelta brand name. Or
I thought the diagonal would look bad to me BUT I actually like it
alot. I wish all sizes had it because I ride a size too small to have
it.

I kinda like that they're leaning towards sidepulls (Silvers I
imagine) for the SO. I've grown to really like those brakes on my
Hilsen, they're just a lot easier to deal with than cantis.

Personally I like the look of a straight second top tube more than the
diagonal. Also, I agree with James V. that the original Breezer style
diagonal would be better (but a bit heavier if that even matters).
With the diaga-tube will Riv change the Hunqa-graphics so the second

Riv has built Breezeresque bikes before. (Link follows) Interesting to
note that the real Breezer had a downward sloping top tube - toward
the head tube that is - and twin diagatubes ala Mixte. (you can see it
in the second link. Maybe it's the photo that makes it look like it
slopes down?) I
There's a very early Breezer on display at Oakland Airport.

I kinda hope they do go with sidepulls with the SO. It'll make the QB
and SO more distinguishable from each other.

From what I know (I think based on BQ???), tieing the laterals into the rear
dropout is the correct way to build such a bike. If they go into the seat
stays, it's not as strong.

That's the one. My photo was on my phone, and not worth sharing.

That diagonal - I wish he did it like the original Breezer's. That would be
cool.

I'm intrigued. For those of you following along at home, I bought a Karate
Monkey on the cheap, but might be persuaded to trade it in to get a Hunq.
I'm between sizes, and both 54 58 have compromises for me. Leaning toward
a 54 if I can get the bars up high enough to run drops.
On Fri, Aug 27,
I'm 5'11, I ordered a 54 Hunq, and I'm going to put drops on it.
Once I have it, I'll post pictures and take measurements if you like.

I like the Diagonal tube... but the 54 is the best fit for me, which
has a single top tube.still thinking a disc brake would be a good
thing with those big fat tires too.
I'm more interested in the Simpleone at this point. I'll have to wait
until later next week to see what's under the
Disc brakes come with good and bad, I have been an advocate, but I
think the dishing of the wheels from the left side opens up greater
inherent weaknesses. If the canti brakes are not enough, or the flex
in the stays is a bit much you can always throw a booster arch on it.
It is not like you
Hey Ian, great to hear you have one in route! I'm 6ft, and thinking the 54
would be best, especially if the TT is a bit longer than originally planned
(that was a mentioned change). The 58 gives long enough reach and ability
to get the bars up real high, but would have very minimal stand-over
Agreed. Nothing wrong with discs, probably even better for loaded descents
(heat), but weaker wheels and over-built forks don't intrigue me too much.
V-brakes really stop pretty darn good. So do cantis for that matter! :-)
