Rode this route with Brian last time but do to the hot weather in the
summer we had to cut the ride short. We figured this time around the
weather should be cooler. Not a chance.

No, the bike has a set of the Surly Torsion bars on right now. Made by
Nitto. They sweep back some, but starting to think not enough. For me,
it's a weight issue. I have too much. Even with Ergon grips can't seem to
keep numbness away. If I could get a set of Soma Clarence to fit,
+1 on two layers of Newbaums. It is my default choice for wrappping bars. I
always use two layers of the same color w/ shellac. I find the slightly
wider grip, fatigues my hands a bit less on long rides.

We have had zero problems with Shiftmate pulleys. Both instances using
Campy 9-speed Ergo shifters with Shimano long-cage derailleurs and
cassettes.

the whatever-you-call-that-color of the Bleriot (I own one, and still can't
decide if it's blue or green or both). What you might try is to get the
light blue, then amber-shellac it down to a color that works for you.
To my eyes, the Bleriot is metallic Aqua.
That's what I think mine looks like anyway.
I think if I ever get my Sam repainted, I'd like that color for it.

One thing that caught me off guard this past week, and may have flown under
the average Riv radar, is the new DynaSys shimano shadow detailers. I had
one show up that was ordered as a regular shadow. Apparently there was a
transition where all being sold as 10 spd are now DynaSys. I am still
