I hate to let you down, Grant, but I'm not very good at shaving rubber
heels off in one piece, though my second one was much closer than the
first. But if we ever have a major fire in the season of snow when I'm
likely to be wearing these boots, my last thought will be of Grant's lament
for me.
Actually, I think the question of why your boots came with heels is an
interesting one. I honestly don't think the manufacturers put them there to
make male users to look like they are in heat, but a Google search of "why

Braze-ons are super easy to add to a steel bike – not sure about paint,
though. I wonder if a pro like Bilenky could add them and only touch-up
the surrounding area as an option to a full repaint. You might also take
a look at Nova under their steel small parts to see what options you have
one thing I regret not doing with my rambouillet was to have centerpull
braze ons put on. If I had it to do over again, I would spec the new gran
bois centerpulls to my rambouillet, and maybe midfork braze-ons. since the
front end geometry wasn't exactly designed for low trail, you might want to
