I just had the same issue on my Hilsen. The guys at Riv recommended rotating
the bearings like Patrick suggested (as did Bill Lindsay when I asked about
it). Once the mechanic at the LBS got it apart the bearings were shot. I
replaced the headset with a Tange on Tuesday.

How do you know when a headset is worn out? My Hilsen has an Ultegra headset.
The bike was built up in 2011. There seems to be kind of a dead spot when the
wheel is centered up. If you have the wheel centered and move the handlebars to
the left and right, it's like you have to overcome inertia
Mark, go ahead and grab the cartridges. I live in a hotel so don't have my shop
tools, thus will need to get it the LBS first, then go from there. This is poor
timing with PBP training in progress, but certainly better than a
non-functional headset in Loudeac.

I'm so frustrated with my drive train. I had Shimano 9 speed bar ends with a
front triple. They worked great in index mode. The indexing got finicky so I
switched to friction. It worked well for a bit then the ghost shifting
started. I switched to Silver bar ends. They feel great but I just
I don't think the Hunq was built around Bosco bars. I'm pretty sure it had been
in production at least a couple of years before Riv came out with the Bosco
bars. At least I seem to remember it that way.

until I was older but I couldnt. I had them both done at the same time. I have
been overjoyed with the results.i set off on a cross country ride 1 1/2 years

it. There's no wheel shadow to deal with like when I had it on the fork crown.

I have a 63cm Hilsen with a Nitto Mark's Rack, large Berthoud bag and Berthoud
H-121 decaleur on the Technomic stem. I really like the setup. I was worried
that the attach/detach from the decaleur would be a pain but after doing it a
couple of times it was no problem at all. Steve's paper clip

Yep, I noticed the same on my Hilsen's Phil BB last fall. Similar situation. I
was putting a new chain on and noticed the grinding when I turned the crank. I
replaced the bearings (actually the great shop in New Haven did it since I live
in a hotel.) It should make it through brevet season and

Temps in the 40s in CT today. Good for a 73 mile ride. The 200k I had planned
on yesterday in DC was cancelled due to Thursday's heavy snow. My next opportu
is in two weeks, again in DC. My goodness the roads are in atrocious condition
out here. My Compass Stampede Pass tires did great, though.

My PBH is 89.5 and I ride a 63 Hilsen and 63 Roadeo. The Riv site suggests
subtracting 27 from PBH for a race fit (more seat post showing). That would
put you on a 50 or 52 Hilsen.

seat post. I fall right between a 61 and 63 Hilsen. I have a 63 and am showing
a bit less than a fistful of post. Your handlebar height would be well below
the seat if you had what the rest of the cycling world calls

I'm experiencing some of the same. I did a 200k on Saturday. I've been eating
very low carb for only two weeks now. Saturday was actually day number 13. I'm
going for my first RUSA R-12 so I need a 200k for the month of January. I chose
a very flat (only 500 ft. of elevation gain in 200k!)
