though... I got one back in October and the difference is amazing,
of projection on my part?!? Definitely this is the best option long term,
but I think I'd have to forgo having original decals. I'd feel weird about
'rebadging' the bike as the more expensive version, what do you think?

Michael I've had the same thought based on my 9 and 10 speed drive trains
lately. 8 speed chains and cassettes are cheap! Someone pointed out during
an earlier thread that the options for 8 speed cassettes are more limited
but I'm not sure I'm that picky on my cog-cog relationships that I'd

650B set back in March and a 700C one in Sept. Both have worked very well.
The latest BM Cyo Premium from Peter White is unbelievably good, highest

After an unnecessary, self-imposed delay I finally replaced the aging TA
Axix BB on my Atlantis with a cheap, new Shimano UN55 unit... what a
noticeable and wonderful change! Im happy to report that the 127mm axle
worked fine w/ my TA Zephyr crank and the wide Atlantis chainstays. The

I never realized the tubular/clincher purpose behind 700C! The idea of
event vs every day wheels does make some sense to me. I think it's less
applicable for me as I wouldn't feel comfortable building up a super-light
wheelset at my weight but it would make sense for alot of riders I know.

I did build up the wheels myself, with some qa from a much better qualified
wheel builder. I've found wheel building to be incredibly satisfying and
surprisingly 'do-able' but I've also had the advantage of a patient mechanic
friend and tools access at my co-op.

Can't say that I have tried solder. However in a pinch, I once used nail
polish. It worked like a charm!
