If the leather has truly stretched to the point where you have a distinct center ridge and two deep "cheek pockets", just tensioning the saddle won't help. It will just make the ridge all the more prominent, and you won't be any more comfortable. When you are ready for drastic measures:

I'm thinking of a step by step: 1. Tension saddle 2. Proof hide top. Wait a day or so and see how it feels. If that doesn't work: 3. Tension more. If that doesn't work: 4. Imperialise it with a cutout, and see if that flattens out the top. If that doesn't work: 5. Install new Imperial saddle. 6.

Another observation. I've found my saddle stretching adversely with sweat and creating a sore spot toward the end of long rides. This morning at my halfway stop, I adjusted the saddle nose up a half-turn front and back bolts and it eliminated the problem. On Monday, August 31, 2015 at

Any leather shop will have a leather punch in plier form that is affordable (under $20) and works well. I use it to punch holes in leather and rubber fender flaps, too. Beth in PDX On Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 11:00:35 AM UTC-7, N. Llama wrote: > > Speaking of lacing Brooks saddles, does

I'm not familiar with the Flyer but if it is like the Conquest, which I have, the rails run lengthwise just about 1/4 - 1/2 inch below the leather so it doesn't take much to be riding the rails. Just yesterday, I took some fairly dense yet pliable packing foam I got at work and stuffed it

Thanks for the advice, y'all. I guess I'll have to tension, proofhide and see what happens. maybe lace if need to. @Michael: That is an interesting idea. Thudbuster. Then I could just get a slotted cambium and not have to worry about having to only get a sprung saddle. Plus the Cambium removes

joe and Zach both have nailed the question. Even in the Select and Special grades, the quality of leather has gone down, but these are the minimum grades to consider. In the lower grades, the odds are against you getting a good saddle. Tension the saddle - return it to that break-in feeling

Why not get a sprung seat post and the saddle that fits you best? My wife uses the Thud Buster on our tandem and likes it. We have had it 5 years and haven't even replaced the flex part. Michael On Sunday, August 30, 2015 at 3:16:49 PM UTC-4, Lungimsam wrote: > > Rivet doesn't make sprung

In addition to adding tension to the nose bolt, lacing the bottom flaps of the saddle may also help encourage the top back into form. I used a Flyer on my Riv for the last couple years. It was my first Brooks, and I applied a light application of neatsfoot oil when I got it, to help it soften

Rivet doesn't make sprung saddles, or I would try one. I emailed them about it. They don't like the weight of a sprung saddle, and they didn't get the appeal of sprung. I like sprung saddles. Just wish the leather shape wouldn't change so easily. Brooks is coming out with a Cambium type
