Tony,
Don't know how helpful this might be but I was experiencing shimmy on my
60cm saluki, I tried a number of things to fix it, including a
needlebearing headset (which helped i think). But the biggest change was
when i swapped out the cockpit from a 90mm stem to a 100mm stem. Shifting a

Hi Cecily,
Sorry the Betty isn't working out for you. It's super hard to sell any bike
in vancouver for more than $500. But maybe try a local CL ad for a couple
weeks to see if it gets any interest. If not, I'd recommend trying to sell
though ebay or the rbw group. If you drive the bike down
I've been wanting to try 650b on my romulus since I saw Leslie's ram
conversion. Then I was reminded again by Erl's rom conversion, So with
soma's recent 20% sale i picked up a 650b wheelset and changed up the

Thanks Erl, I appreciate the kind words.
I might go all the way to 165mm myself - I just measured floor to pedal on
the rom vs the saluki and the saluki has 9cm clearance (with pari-moto 38mm
and 170mm crank), whereas the rom has 8cm clearance (with 42mm hetres and
175mm crank). so i ought to

Erl, I don't have callipers to measure the tire width, but holding up a
tape measure it looks a little over 40mm - although I'm not sure the
picture I took shows that very convincingly. I also took another photo of
the clearance with fender and tire and the crown, which seemed plenty to
me. I
Thanks man!

I don't think they require braze-ons. This links to a pic of the backside

I think the 610s only go to 61mm (which i think is the model VO sells), whereas
the 750s goes to 78mm reach.
Riv sells the nutted 750s. I think i saw some on ebay that claimed to be
recess bolted, at least on the front.

If anyone is interested in getting one of these while they're still
available, bike-discount.de is selling the b17 select for 95 usd. I got
one a couple weeks ago and they disappeared off the site but are back on
now.

Actually, i ended up buying a second b17 select. It's just too tempting a price
to pass up.

Thanks for posting the albums. Both bikes look great. I took my 650b'd
Romulus out for a quick ride this morning. I've always enjoyed it, but with
the wider supply tires, it's just that much better. Love your cheviot.
I'd be lusting after one more (and in that awesome green) if I didn't
