I've met Guitar Ted several times. After my failed/abandoned Trans Iowa
attempt in 2011, I showered up and went to volunteer at checkpoint 2 (mile
170-something), which was at a nondescript corner of a couple gravel farm

Adventure Cycling last year. Is late Oct too late for for the trails in
Northern Minn.? One option would be to stop on the way to Ca., after the
birth of our granddaughter. I'm also scheduled for a conference in St Paul
April and October in Minnesota are either glorious and perfect, or
cold/wet/snowy. Flip a coin. If October, your odds are considerably better
in southern MN, but April days are not in frequently wet and cold anywhere
