Looks like the ARRL and RSGB don't communicate very well about band plans.
This is going to be interesting when the band opens up to Europe!
Conditions on 10FM to Japan, etc. are already open this season.
They should check out the 10M FM mailing list on yahoo.

Amen,
I have had a few 10 meter repeater QSO's just to try it. They were all
incredibly short due to about 12 interfering repeaters all being keyed up at
once!! You would think that a 10 meter repeater op would, at the very
least, set them up to require a CTCSS tone so that they dont
Yea, even in the same band. UHF repeater with a UHF remote base. The repeater is on 442 withtheremote baseon 444. It's linking to another repeater about seventy miles away. We let each repeater ID on it's own. The repeater TX PL tones are COS operated so that the PL tone is only transmitted
I am in the planning process for constructing a 10 meter repeater and it
will have tone on most of the time. There will only be limited times where
the tone will be turned off.

I have an435 MHz

way. This makes the link very seamless. You cant even tell that

We gave every one a date when we would turn on the PL on the repeater. You
can add a Comspec encoder to any radio for under $30.00. Hey its only 3 wires
and two are power. The third I like to put on the discriminator pot most of the
time. So any Ham should be able to install PL or some one
It is not! It least under Part 90 and 95.
Back in the 70ty's many folks would tell people it was but it is not in the
rules.

Unfortunately, many 10M Repeaters get their coordination with the condition
that they be in CTCSS Access. One in Southern California that I know of is
doing this.
Some repeater builders put them up for testing and just never seem to get
around to turning on the decoder. Or they come up with
NO! What part 90 are you looking at.
I spoke with the FCC this morning and it is not in there copy of part 90. I

I think what he was getting at was wanting a USED manual. I see them at
hamfests for $5-10 (got mine for $2 at Dayton). I bought a bunch at Dayton
several years ago, but have sold the extras already. They are around, and
often on ebay, etc. (and this group) for a lot less than Motorola wants for
Tony has a great point!
The issue with sera was a simple one, not so much that
the old farts complained about the new PL
encode/decode requirement.
The issue at hand with sera is simple, coordinators
throughout the U.S. have no authority to dictate
repeater operations other than they conform to
I'm confused on something, and hopefully
someone will guide me in the right direction. I'm not sure which is
needed to complete my Simplex repeater station, minus the controller. I
see all the stuff listed on EBAY from GE and Motorola like transceiver
and repeaters. Which do I need ?
When I contacted Motorola and gave them the model #
T81JAA4900DK they informed me the manual was no longer
available and gave me the number that is posted.
Suggested news groups or Ebay.

Evidently I hit a "Jeff Foxworthy" soft spot. Usually a coordination council votes on something as a group and the majority decision is what becomes the rule. Evidently not at SERA.
Tone is good, tone is great, tone should be
Living 1/2 mile from 'RF hell" on top of Lookout Mtn. requires that a repeater must have tone before I can listen to the channel without putting up with constant intermod. We have several untoned repeaters here in the Denver area that can't understand why someone would want tone on the output
