Hi Tom,
You can use GE MLS in Ham band with no troubles. You need the original GE
programmer to do this.
Its necessary to retune the RX and TX VCO near to 4.5 Volts. Looks for a
flashing LED in front of radio this indicate an unlocked VCO.

Overall, you can treat them like a Phoenix. Great for
links, but I wouldn't want to use 2 of them (they won't
duplex) set up as a repeater due to the heat.
