Sound like maybe a base station that has been converted. If it has volume and Squelch controls on the radio, it is probably a Fleetcom 2. If it doesn't, its a Transcom 2. Same cystals as the PPL series. Lift the top cover, receiver and transmitter should be separate. What color is the radio?
