Should I change the current 4.2?

During my time
I'm using Retrospect 4.3 on a Mac to backup almost all of the computers
on my network. Among these is an NT 4.0 server (service pack 6a). I've
configured the Macshare volumes per Dantz's recommendations, but I am

Are you using Retrospect Client on the NT Server or are you using network
shares?
If you are using shares, there are two sets of permissions that are in
effect--the share permissions and the file permissions. Share permissions
are accessed through the "Sharing" tab of the properties dialog for
I upgraded our Retrospect 4.3 server, a G3/300 desktop, to Mac OS 9.1, and
everything seems to be working just fine. It's backing up my PowerBook G3,
also running Mac OS 9.1, as I type.

Also ensure that all files have the security permissions set to allow read
access or higher to administrators, and that the Retrospect client software
was installed while logged in as Administrator.

Are you using Retrospect
I have a customer with an interesting problem. On his G-4 tower, he is
backing up to a firewire hard drive. The file is currently about 4.5 gb.
When he tried to do the same thing with his firewire powerbook, same system
(9.04), same ver. of Retrospect 4.3, same brand of drive, 25gb VST.
