I've been enjoying this discussion list a great deal. I've taken notice of
the discussion concerning "shoeshining" of the heads and that got me
wondering...
I checked the logs and noticed that 80-90% of the time is spent
idling/loading/preparing. Is that really necesary? Should I be

Please forgive my ignorance, but I have to ask the following question: Your
hard drive fails. You want to pop in a new drive and restore the system to
the original condition. What do you do?

I would suggest checking the logon settings for the Retrospect client
service in the Services Control Panel. Make sure that the service logs on
as THE administrator account for that machine. This will provide complete
access to the hard drive. Keep in mind that just using an account with
how much has
been done and how long we have to wait.
