Thank you for Retrospect 4.3
I have had success finally after dealing with my server being crashed after each backup for 4 months or longer. I upgrade our remotely backed up server to OS 9.0.4/ ASIP 6.3.2 and Retrospect 4.3 last Thursday. I had some tweaking to do but know that I have all the settings rights our server is stable and each night the backup runs and the server is not crashed each a.m. The Retrospect read me sounds like the fix had to do with backing up folders larger than 2GBs. The areas I was having the problems with were all larger than 2 GBs. It also seemed as if I was having a memory leak since each morning if I caught the server before it crashed the windows wouldn't redraw and the Mac OS had maxed out the memory until I restarted. I guess I will not know if my problem was the Mac OS 8.6 or Retrospect 4.2 or both but it is finally solved. Is 4.2 compatible with OS 8.6 and ASIP 6.2
Is anyone backing up a Mac ASIP 6.2 server with OS 8.6 using the remote client ver. 4.2A successfully? Apple has suggested I upgrade to ASIP 6.3 and OS 9 since I am using the latest Retrospect. Dantz has suggested I format all drives and start over. I have 300 GB of data that would need to be restored, that would mean our business would be closed down until the restore was finished. Not good! The remote server crashes after each backup when the either of the two G3s are the remote server. But, when I have the 8500 as the remote server the backup works like it should. -- Rhona Cash Macintosh Systems Administrator Gear For Sports, Inc. 913.693.3598 [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- -- To subscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives:http://list.working-dogs.com/lists/retro-talk/ Problems?: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: Is 4.2 compatible with OS 8.6 and ASIP 6.2
I have the Retrospect app on our other Mac server which has the same setting up just a different RAID. I have to do this until I get this solved, or I would have two computers crashing after each backup. I have switch the app and the remote client on the two server and I get the same problem on which ever is remotely backed up. Down graded both to 8500 isn't a very good solution. It's good to hear that you are doing this without problems. What model is your server? What type of internal HD do you have? I am using a first generation blue and white G3 with the Ultra wide 9 GB internal HD I also have a MicroNet Data Dock 7000 and a MicroNet Genesis RAID, each is on separate servers. -- Rhona Cash Macintosh Systems Administrator Gear For Sports, Inc. 913.693.3598 [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- -- To subscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives:http://list.working-dogs.com/lists/retro-talk/ Problems?: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: arrgh 519 error
I also get the 519 error. I do agree that it is certain files that are causing Retrospect to error out. I have gotten around this by subdivide my script this let's my backup complete; however, when users connect to the remote client server after the backups run the server crashes. I must reboot the remote client server each morning but at least my backup completes this way. I am still in the process of figure out exactly what files are causing the problem. I have only eliminated folders at this point I have a lot of data I backup so this is a very slow process. I have ran Norton, TechTools and Disk Warrior but neither show any problems. I think it's a Retrospect compatibility issue. -- Rhona Cash Macintosh Systems Administrator Gear For Sports, Inc. 913.693.3598 [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- -- To subscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives:http://list.working-dogs.com/lists/retro-talk/ Problems?: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
