Thanks.

This was in a recently upgraded 4.2. Now, the original backup was
probably made using the old version (probably 4.0). The volumes were
HFS+

Re: Restore Size

2000-04-14 Thread mark . maytum

Matt,

Aha! That makes perfect sense now. This problem only occurs on one
backup server we use for "ghosting" new AEFW and MM workstations - it's
running 4.0. Doesn't happen anymore on our 4.2 server.

Thanks for the info. I really should read the Read Me's and the tech
notes more often than I do. Didn't mean to be an alarmist... :-)

Re: Restore Size

2000-04-14 Thread Luke Jaeger

you wouldn't be using an old version of Retrospect by any chance, would you?

I have seen this with Retro 3 when it encounters a volume larger than
2GB. HFS+ seems to confuse the heck out of it as well.

Noah,

It does this to me all the time too. I just ignore the warning, then get
presented with "Are you sure you want to overflow the destination by
XXmb." I just click ok.

I always assumed it was some glitch with extended format drives, but I'm
not really sure. I am sure it's a harmless message though...

Hello:

Recently I did a restore of an entire drive.

When I would select files to restore from the set (using the Browser)
they reported a size of, say, 100MB. However, when I went to click
"Restore", Retrospect reported that it needed almost three times as
much space.

What am I missing?
