Hi,

I am using Python 2.6 which i suppose should be fine and should not
conflict with the issues of using Python 2.4.

Re: Error in installing Review Board

2011-06-10 Thread ROAAN
Jan,

Yes I have been following the exact sequence of steps outlined there.
Actually, I have read it so many times that its memorized to me :-).
Anyhow, one thing which I think might be causing the issue is that I
am having "easy_install-2.6", "easy_install-2.5". Since the python
version I am using is 2.6.1 so I tried installing using
easy_install-2.6. The error trace that I posted above has the first
warning as

"warning: GMP library not found; Not building
Crypto.PublicKey._fastmath", but I checked that is installed on my
system as well. I am not sure about if i need to set
up a path for it / some sort of link for my python environment to be
aware about it.

Thanks,
Rohan.

Re: IntegrityError

2011-06-10 Thread Christopher Hahn
Hello all,

For the record, my problem was caused by a corruption of our mysql backend.
(ran out of spaceunbelievable, but I must come clean)

I figured this out and then ran some mysqlcheck type of actions to repair.

We are good now.

Thank you all!

Chris

1.6 beta 2 - email EOF error

2011-06-10 Thread Daryl
Hi,

I just upgraded to 1.6 beta 2 porting my database over. I was using
1.5 before, with email working ok. I left the email settings intact,
using MS online services. The settings are -

I now get this error -

Any thoughts? I tried this by posting a review from an old diff that
was in the database from 1.5. And I also submitted a new diff report
and got the same error.

Thanks,
Daryl

You appear to have a DNS problem:

"Unable to determine IP address from host name for ."

What does "nslookup " say?

Re: post-reviews: The requested URL could not be retrieved

2011-06-10 Thread ptrchen
Hi Tucker,

Thanks for the reply.

I ran "nslookup " from both (XP server) and
from a sparc-solaris2.10 machine.

Both return

Name: .
Address:

Are you using a full server path starting with http:// ? Are you

Re: 1.6 beta 2 - email EOF error

2011-06-10 Thread Christian Hammond
Hi Daryl,

The only thing I know has changed on our end is the addition of a Sender:
header. It shouldn't break anything, but perhaps they're strict and
disconnect you early. I don't know what has changed in Django, but maybe
something broke there.

To rule out Review Board as the cause, go into Admin UI -> Settings ->
E-mail and remove the "Sender e-mail address".

Following exact instruction when You use so old operating system does
not have chance to work.
You must improvise. Enter error message at Google and try resolve the
problem - then one more time run easy_install and so on, and so on.
This was not be easy - but I installed ReviewBoard on so freaky Linux
Distrubution I belive it is possible everywhere if You are ready to
compile half of operating system from the source code - really. Worked
for me.

Good Luck :)

Re: Error in installing Review Board

2011-06-10 Thread Christian Hammond
Alternatively, if you have any sort of VM solution set up, or can set one
up, you'll have a much easier time using Ubuntu Linux or a modern Fedora as
your host.

I haven't seen the GMP error, so I don't know off-hand what's needed there.

Re: Basic Workflow

2011-06-10 Thread J Arrizza
Jeb,

We faced the same and have come to a manual workaround. We organize around
SCRs (Software Change Requests), with one review per SCR. This leads to a
complication in that each review can have multiple revisions (since an SCR
can have multiple changesets) and multiple files per revision.

Here's an example of our workflow. The example assumes 1 submitter (the
developer) and 2 reviewers since that's the way it is for us. Also it has 2
revisions because there were two changesets submitted by the
author. Revision 1 has changes to fileA and fileB, and Revision 2 has
changes to fileA and fileC.

   - Submitter creates a review
   - Reviewer1 goes to the diffs tab, selects Revision 1
   - He reviews fileA and finds no faults. He adds a single comment "OK
file" at the first visible line. This isn't necessarily the first line of
the file since RB displays the first diff +- context lines.
   - He reviews fileB and puts a comment in one of the diffs. He does not
put "OK file" in this case.
   - He changes to Revision2 and finds all files to be ok so he puts "OK
   file" against each file there.
   - Reviewer2 goes to Revision1 and reviews fileA. He finds no problems and
also places an "OK File" in the first visible line. Now anyone can tell that
file has been reviewed since it has a "2" when it is viewed in the diff
   file.
   - He reviews fileB and if he finds no additional comments, puts an "OK
   file" .
   - He reviews Revision2 and also finds everything ok there too.
   - Submitter responds to the comment in File A
   - Reviewer1 goes into FileA and assuming he agrees with the submitter,
puts an "OK" against the comment.
   - Now, since there are no unanswered comments in FileA, Reviwer1 also
puts an "OK file" in the first visible line in the file.

In short, 2 "OK files" at the top of each file indicates the file review is
complete. When all files in all revisions have a "2", the review can be
closed.

There are complications and nuisances using this method but with people
willing to work around them it works ok. Clearly it would be much better to
have UI and automated support from RB but it is what it is.

Re: Basic Workflow

2011-06-10 Thread J Arrizza
Neither the star or the bubble work for what you're looking for. In our
case, even less so since we have multiple reviewers. They just aren't
applicable as a way to track the review's state.

What would be ideal is some sort of state variable per reviewer per revision
per file.. RB would let each reviewer independently set a state variable
allocated to him on a file, and then RB would magically "sum up" at the
dashboard level so it is immediately visible if a review is ready to close
or if there is work to do.

At the dashboard level It could be a number n indicating the number of
incompletes across all reviewers/revisions/files. When that number is 0,
code review is ready to close. When a reviewer sets a flag in the
revision/file saying he's done, it has a nice little icon on the screen next
to that file, and the master number is decremented by 1. Each Revision
square [1][2][3] etc could be colored to indicate all files in that revision
have been accepted/reviewed by all reviewers.

Yes, I am using the full server path name with http://

We do have a proxy server, but both the requester and target are
within the proxy server.

Does the error actually only list the hostname and not the fully
qualified name? If so, that may be part of your problem (throwing out
guesses). Have you tried using the fully qualified name?

Sorry for not listing all the output, but company policy prohibits me
from doing that.

Yes, the error lists the hostname and FQDN

Also, we do give it the FQDN following the --server option

Re: post-reviews: The requested URL could not be retrieved

2011-06-10 Thread Christian Hammond
We've seen people run into this sort of error with proxy servers. Regardless
of your client-side proxy server configuration (say, in your Internet
settings, on Windows), it may still use the proxy server on post-review.

The error output looks very much like it came from a proxy server, meaning
that the request is going out to the proxy, and the proxy can't find the
domain. You'll need to blacklist it. I don't recall if it will at all
respect this black list with Python running on Windows. If it's Linux, then
you want to be sure your http_proxy environment variable isn't set.

This has come up a couple of times, and it's clear we need a setting in
post-review itself to just override the proxy configuration.

If you search on this mailing list, you'll probably find a couple other
solutions.

Re: post-reviews: The requested URL could not be retrieved

2011-06-10 Thread Christian Hammond
I know at least on Linux, the http_proxy variable is respected. I don't know
about on Windows. A common problem on Linux is that people will have that
set, in order for other things to work correctly, and then post-review will
pick it up. Some people use an alias or wrapper so that doesn't happen.

Sorry Chrisitan, never mind, I misread your post. I'll do some more
digging for overriding the proxy configuration

Re: 1.6 beta 2 - email EOF error

2011-06-10 Thread Daryl
This is interesting. First, when I tried removing the "Sender e-mail
address", after clicking Save the default noreply came back. And I
got the same error both with noreply and when using the codereviews@
internal email I created (that was working before). I also tried
modifying the code in email.py to set sender to None regardless. Same
result.

But then I found out we have an internal mail server. And it works
when pointing at that. It works both with the default noreply sender
and the codereviews@ email. So there's something unique to the MS
online mail.

Now if I could just get my sqlite3 database to convert to mysql. :)
But that will be another (long) post.

Thanks for the response,
Daryl
