Indeed, I'm working on a Bash script that simplifies the process. If I'm
every satisfied with it, I'll share it, in case anybody else is

You suggested that a few pages back, and I acknowledged at the time that
it was foolish of me to be offended by the inefficiency of that
approach. It still is, and I still am.

Four months after I mentioned that LMS 8+ now supports cue files that
point to multiple audio source files, I have finally done a test with
encouraging results. IF your OS and filesystem both support symlinks, it
is now possible to have tracks in a box set appear in your library in
two places:
As a one time radio DJ and collector I have spent countless hours, much
like those of u reading this, listening to CD after CD, and I am often
shocked to find a song on one CD release sounds clearly audibly
different from the same song on another release.
This presents a problem when building

Good luck to you! If you manage to get it to work for you, I hope you'll
post about it here. I still hope

Continuing on the subject of using one cue file per track to create a
separate album from the tracks included in a box set, one significant
obstacle is the number of cue files that have to be created, especially
if it's all done by hand.
Being lazy, I have written a Bash script that assists in
What, nobody's excited about this? :p
Never mind! I totally understand that this is a very niche subject. And
may be my "discovery" is something that was already well known. But I
didn't find any information about doing this when I searched. The one
cue file per track method I described in the
Three months after my previous post, I have to say that the workaround I
described then is not very satisfactory to me. If I do want to access
the discs as released in the box set, they are available by browsing the
music folder, as stated. However, it is not an easy or pleasant task to
select
Clearly, having multiple copies of the identical file in different
folders and with different album tags and different track numbers is the
best solution. But the inefficiency of that offends me, for some reason.
(It's not necessarily logical. It's not as though I'm remarkably
efficient in
Seems that the easiest think would be 2 copies. One as individual
albums, the other as a multidisc album. The multidisc would have all
songs in the same folder with a common Album title. File names for the
tracks would be something like "Disc# Track# Track title" and include
Disc# in the tags.

Yes and to my listening pleasure no.
My solution to the scenario described is to generally name the primary
album tracks with the album title.
The bonus tracks will then get an album title that is of the style
"Album (extended)" usually named to match how it may popularly be
identified elsewhere e.g. tack on a Limited Edition,

How about the other way round? I think it might be useful to be able to
incorporate eg a Spotify playlist as an album
I have another email potential use case. I have the Hyperion

The Beatles 2009 remasters have more bass and they are louder than the
Red Book versions.

I have all the Beatles Albums on CD and ripped them to my server, then
years later I purchased the 24/96 remasters. So before loading the 24/96
albums to the server, I deleted the ripped Red Book CDs (why do I need
them now that I have remasters in hires format?). This immediately

Actually I have just realised I have this scenario myself in a few
instances
An example
I have 2 copies of Faces - Long Player CD.
One an early CD and the other a reissue / remaster with bonus tracks.
I ripped both
The first is tagged as "Long Player" the second as "Long Player +"

wanted to be able to have two albums appearing one the original album

to do so having simply ripped the reissue. He
How about a playlist for the compilation?
It would be what TE wanted, if one could handle (some) playlists as
virtual albums.

I've seen the case of multiple albums tagged discussed elsewhere (other
software), and I think it is something that just isn't handled well by
software because it is a bit abstract. In theory it is possible, but I
think that a lot of software just doesn't support it. I think the
expectation is
It doesn't work using a separator for Album titles.
I changed the Album tag for the track "Mellow Yellow" by Donovan to
"Easy Like Sunday Morning;Mellow Yellow" and rescanned.
The track is no longer listed under the album "Easy Like Sunday Morning"
but appears as a single track in it's own album

The short answer is no.
Although you can tag with multiple albums the way the scanner works is
that it looks in folders which typically would be

In the notes to settings/my music/separator for multiple items in tags
it claims that you can have multiple albums tagged for a track.
I tried this using a ; separator (as per the same entry) but it did
work. The album was listed with a slash (/) between the two title
