I generally avoid running pulseaudio, even on Linux machines which are
just meant to be desktop machines, it is still one of the first things
that I disable. My experiences have found that for what I often do with
computers Pulseaudio seems to introduce more problems then it solves.

the bad one

Happy to hear it's exactly the audio card we have :-(
I touch wood.
By the way I'm not happy with the transformer either: sometimes it gives

I know there are ways to start up and stop these daemons without the
init.d script, however I still prefer the tried and true method that I'm
familiar with.
Hope this helps,

Subject: [RDD] daemon start up and shutdown
You may have already checked this, but try playing some of your audio
files on another computer (copy them out of /var/snd on to a usb stick
or something)
If they sound distorted on another computer then it is the sound files
themselves.

is nice to be able to keep them running for the time being.

On behalf of the entire Rivendell development team, I'm pleased
confirm this behaviour? It could be something with my
system or a setting that I am missing.

On behalf of the entire Rivendell development team, I'm pleased to announce
the availability of Rivendell v2.5.3. Rivendell is a full-featured radio
automation system
for a volunteer run station type of
situation - if a host doesn't show up, just leave it in automation mode
and it'll keep playing the log.

I believe the OP might, like me, have had experience with a playout system
like Myriad.
The auto mode would ignore any soft presenter link type
there.

Hi Gary,
In the big pic the fast moving revisions of the Linux freeware seems to be a
deal breaker with many RDD
installations. Just my perspective... if the RDD developer folk in general
were to centralize on a platform
like RHE or Suse Linux Enterprise Server - SLES with a longer life
can think of to check but don't seem to be
able to find a solution. Is there a way to get stuff played through
Cartslots to show up in the playout log, or is this a bug?
Thanks,

be using a
library common to any of the Rivendell boxes on the system, so if you
add a new audio file, macro, or anything like that it'll show up on the
other system.

standard playout and the log in another window. You can even turn off
the panel in rdairplay through rdadmin -- Manage Hosts -- rdairplay

From
rebooting at
1:30, you'd want it to start recording a new file as soon as it started

Hi,
Check within alsamixer that you have the correct input selected and the
levels on that input are set, and that it is not set to mute.
Also check your jack setup. Sometimes it helps to start up one of the
Jack level indicators (something like meterbridge works well) and route
your audio input
Hi,
My only additional comment, which does not apply to Linux, if you're
looking to use a M-Audio Delta 44 or 66 in Windows 7 64 bit, you might
or might not run into difficulty.
At one site about a year ago which uses a Delta 66 for production work
on a CoolEdit / Adobe Audition machine, at
Hi,
If you're on more of a budget and don't have a need for the number of
inputs / outputs that an M-Audio Delta 1010 gives you (it does give you
8 analog in's and 8 analog outs, plus the s/pdif), other options to look
at are the m-audio Delta 44 or 66
They are both essentially the same card
Hi,
Using the scheduler codes as a filter is now possible in RDLogEdit (and
RDAirplay) as of Version 2.1.1.
When you select to add a new cart within RDLogEdit, you now have a
pull-down filter you can use to select a scheduler code. It works quite
well and is a very welcomed feature (Thanks
Just wondering,
Has anyone built the Windows EXE's for the latest (2.1.1) build and
could post a download link?
I'd like to do some testing with this, however I don't have the various
Windows tools to build these EXE's myself installed on any of my Windows
boxes.
Thanks,
Lorne Tyndale
