NO

On its own it doesn't. But I think its possible to run the RD output
Also, you're usually better setting up a standalone audio source on your
silence detector. You're then covered if the Rivendell box crashes out
completely or suffers hardware failure.

Hi,
I'm kind of paranoid about silences. Rivendell by itself does no
silence checking and as already mentioned by others its not a good idea
to do it all on one machine (in case the machine dies). Half way
through the broadcast chain I have a Guardian silence detector that has

How 'bout a second independent Rivendell machine running a duplicate log? It's
not like there is massive expense involved. If one machine goes flop, the
second one can be launched by the silence sense device. And it would sustain
the programming flow better than a hardware MP3 device.

The silence detector should be triggered rarely. Though experience tells me
that isn't always the case (e.g. gaps where split audio should have fired
during network programs, presenters going off to make tea and not hitting
the sequence/auto button at 4am).

The catch with your suggestion is that you need a complete standalone copy of
Rivendell running. That's audio library, database, etc. that all need to be
separately maintained.
It works for us here, but that's just our own
Thanks a lot guys! You've convinced me to get Rivendell installed in our

I'll even start a blog. Anyhow, thanks a lot for the answers, you really helped
me out very good.

Yes, liquidsoap is awesome. I use it here at Abbey104 for various duties.

Hello,
I've been following this list for some time now, just to find out the
opportunities of Rivendell for the radio station I work for. They've asked me
to explore Rivendell and so I've been doing. I installed the package (and later
upgraded Linux, just to find out that it had removed

broadcast live (mainly shows in the evening). Those people record their
shows in advance. Sometimes at home, sometimes in the studio. This question
has some points:
